After an hour, Derrick found himself moving along without thinking, snipping off the right branches, then pulling the leaves off and dropping them in the bag. It felt so natural, as if he had been working at it for years. He felt happy and content, and was looking forward to his evening chores of raking leaves and sweeping the patio. The baboon was pleased with his progress, and patted him on the head again. Derrick smiled. That felt nice, being praised by a professional like that. It made him feel proud. He wondered if there was anything else he could help the gardener with.
As he worked, Derrick had a growing urge to go find some fruit. The urge grew so strong that he put down his shears and began to walk away before he thought about what he was doing.
