David attempted to save his friend. Mitch was his pal and he was not about to let him leave and get adopted by a man who was a stranger and just wanted some sort of little human pet! Mitch had already gone from being a young teen to a kid of seven or eight! He'd save Mitch in spite of himself. The real Mitch would be grateful and would be appalled to to have been reduced to a cutesy little boy following his new daddy around, regardless of whatever had happened to his appearance. Mitch was just brain-washed and he had to just return to himself.
"Mitch! Your real name is Mitch! Mitch! Not Mitsuhiko! Snap out of it! You're a grown man, my pal and not a dopey Japanese kid! Remember? We used to be pals!"
But Mitch, now Mitsuhiko, just turned his eyes to him, looking vaguely interested in the other boy shouting things at him. For himself, he was in the arms of his new daddy and he was incredibly comfortable there. His daddy's skin was so soft, and his yukata so comfy. In fact, his father was stylish all over, all the time, for everything. He was so lucky to have a daddy with such fine taste! He hope to grow up just like him! Well, after his nap, because he was feeling mightily tired and relaxed. His mind was also extremely cloudy and he could not focus on the other boy telling him incompressible things. Though he did seem vaguely familiar... Very vaguely... Was it important? Was he important? Well, otou-san did not seem to think so, so it must not be.
"Mitch! What have you done to him, you humongous mean blob?!!?" shouted David.
Angry beyond belief, and so sad he started crying, he threw himself at Fatsumoto and punched him and kicked him. To no effect. He might as well have tried to beat up a sequoia. The Japanese man holding Mitsuhiko felt absolutely nothing. The insults of the boy just annoyed him, but no more. In fact, he felt a twinge of pity for him. So much anger and fear and rebelliousness... He was not very nice, but it must have ben part of his past and... An idea struck him. He placed his hand on David's head. The youth's feeble punches and violence melted instantly, like snow under the sun. He slumped on the ground, silent.
"So much anger in your heart... But isn't it better when you are calm and relaxed?" he said softly.
David nodded dumbly. He had trouble thinking but the man's voice sounded nice and he was right. He WAS really feeling better. And... And why was he angry again? Was it important? He felt so numb and tired that he did not even notice when the changes hit him. He regressed more and more, his years melting away as his memories did. He was soon a toddler of one with features just as Japanese as Fatsumoto himself. David yawned adorably but flinched into his oversized clothes as he saw the large man looking over him. David had seldom felt shy in his previous life but Fatsumoto had brought this aspect of his personality to the forefront. David was now incredibly shy and timid. But once Fatsumoto had changed his old clothes into old-fashioned Japanese age-appropriate garments, he clung to the man's chest, crying softly. He had been scared before but now, in his daddy's warm embrace, he felt so, so much better. Fatsumoto patted his back gently, making David melt into true bliss. Fatsumoto smiled. Yes, he preferred this boy much, much better now. It would be a joy to see him shy and timid when he had acted out like a brat before. The large man made his way home, delighted at having gained two sweet sons so easily, and so unexpectedly. On the way, daddies without sons cast him envious - yet not aggressive - looks, hoping that they would get boys soon, that their turn would come swiftly.
