“Open the gates!” yelled the town crier as the gates to the Mythical Renaissance festival opened and the rush of people coming through the gates began. Like every year there was a bottle neck at the gate as people used their tickets to get in. Some in costumes ranging from the simple store brought Halloween outfit to the impressive and expensive custom-made work.
Somewhere in the middle sat Rose as she was waiting in line dressed in a Victorian style crimson red dress with a black corset with a skull on it. A large brim hat with an even larger red feather graced her head. She was on the shorter side but fit and therefor pulled off the Victorian pirate look with ease.
“Ready for another year at the fair?” inquired her older sister, Lily as she stood beside her. Lily wasn’t dressed up in anything special, she had come really for the drinking and the shows not to dress up.
“As always.” Confirmed Rose as the rest of their friends showed up. In totally there was six of them. Rose and Lily had been there before having grown up in the area while their friends had never been there before.
“Wow…you weren’t kidding about dressing up?” asked Rose’s roommate Willow as she walked up to them.
“Come on, it isn’t that odd and it isn’t as over the top as some people.” Offered Willow’s boyfriend Mike as someone in full plate armor moved past them in line.
“True.” Laughed Willow “And it is an amazing look, where did you get it?”
“Here, if you want you can get one.” Offered Rose
“I am sure, Mike will not complain if you got that dress.” Laughed Lily as her girlfriend Brittney chuckled before pulling her into a kiss.
“Or maybe we will all get outfits.” Stated Brittney, her dark hair pulled back into a tight bun “I have seen some outfits I wouldn’t mind seeing you in, Lily.”
“In or taking me out of?” laughed Lily
“Both.” Laughed Brittney as the last member of their group, Rose’s own boyfriend Chris moved up beside them. He was dressed up, slightly. He had gotten a kilt online and while not the best it was far from the worse outfit here.
“Glad you made it.” Said Rose as she kissed Chris.
“Wouldn’t miss it.” Confirmed Chris as the college friends moved into the fair.
After a couple of hours of shopping, watching shows and of course drinking. It was getting time to call it a day.
“Shall we check this out before we leave?” offered Rose as she looked toward the small clearing with some hedges surrounding it. It was hard to see over it since she was short but she could see some oversize flower statues within.
“Sure why not?” Confirmed Lily as she took another pull from her beer as the six of them headed in.
“Not bad.” Said Willow, as she took a couple of photos. “I really like those stained-glass fairies.”
“Agreed.” Confirmed Mike as they moved through the little garden. Currently no one but them was in it but they could hear the festival going on just outside.
“Did that fairy just move?” inquired Brittney
“Impossible, it was probably the stained-glass playing tricks with the light.” Offered Lily as suddenly both of the Fairies clearly moved in a way that was impossible not to notice.
“What the?” inquired Rose as suddenly there was a blinding flash of multi colored light. When the light faded the statues returned to their normal positions, however no one else was in the garden and any sign those six people had ever been there disappeared as well.
They had been transported to a new world and soon they would leave humanity behind.
