In terror, Anna turned and ran for the door. She didn't think of saving her parents. There was nothing she could do against a tiger, especially as a duck! She just
wanted to get away!
Such a shame, said the voice in her head. That I should have to share a body with such a coward!
Anna turned to face Circe, but the tiger was gone. Anna could hear her parents talking and laughing in the next room.
There was never a tiger, said Circe in Anna's mind. It was just an illusion I made you see to test your courage. I have no physical form. I now live only inside your
body, in your mind. I can do nothing unless you allow me to do it.
Change me back to normal, thought Anna.
A second later, Anna stood where the duck had been. She was relieved to find herself a girl again, even if she had left her clothes on the floor where she had
turned into a duck.
