"Did you all listen carefully to the instructions?" said Mr. Thomas Haley as he and his three students walked into the shared room they would be occupying. At 35, the 6'0'' English teacher was still in good shape, if with a bit of a dad bod. His black hair was slightly grizzled with white, and he had taken to wearing reading glasses over his brown eyes. "You're all over 18, like everyone in this resort, so at this point you should be responsible enough".
"Yes, Mr. Haley", said the three girls in unison.
"Excellent, then we shouldn't have any problems". Mr. Haley breathed a sigh of relief. Other teachers had been assigned troublemakers and problem students, but as a friendly, fairly popular instructor, he had lucked out. The three with him were all quiet, disciplined honor students.
"Should we take any bed we want, sir?" said Annika Singh. The young Indian woman had a modest, if slightly bottom-heavy build and was in a tidy dress.
"Yes, just pick out whichever one you want", said Mr. Haley. "Don't think it really matters".
"Do we really get to, well... we can be any animal in existence here?" said Rita Thornton. The skinny, awkward ginger had her hair in braids and most of her features sprinkled in freckles. She was in a T-shirt and jeans. She pushed her glasses up on her nose. "Seems unlikely..."
"Logically you wouldn't be able to turn into a whale or something", piped up Samira Qadir. She was in a dress and leggings, her black hair tied in a neat bun. She was fuller-figured than her friends, but her more conservative dress sense de-emphasized it. She was wearing glasses over her big, inquisitive brown eyes.
"What would you turn into?" said Annika excitedly.
"Well maybe a cat sounds fun..."
"I think a dog would be more fun", said Rita.
"You'd chase me then!"
Rita pouted. "I wouldn't, we're best friends!" she said with exaggerated sadness.
The three friends giggled and laughed as they started brainstorming the possibilities. Mr. Haley smiled. Well, at least his job would be an easy one. Surely with three good friends and top students there would be nothing to worry about...
