"I forgot my purse in my locker," Leah groans. "It has my wallet in it!" Tonya winces.
"Well, it's Sunday, so the school is closed. But I'm sure we could pick it up tomorrow either before or after classes."
"We?" Leah squeaks.
"I don't know your locker combination, so I'd need you there to open it for me," Tonya answers.
"I can just text it to you."
"Well, I..." Tonya falters. After a moment, she sighs. "With all the stuff Tina said to you earlier and will probably say to you after I leave for the evening, I don't think it's safe to leave you home alone. Even for a quick run to the school."
"You can't bring me to the school dressed like this!"
"I'm sorry, but I don't have a choice. Look, no one will have any idea of who you really are, and if we go during a time there won't be a lot of people in the halls, then we have extra wiggle room."
Leah suddenly feels a surge of energy in her body, like she just downed three espressos.
"Leah?"
"I think you just made me hyper. I need to run off this energy somewhere."
"Okay, but first, do you agree to me taking you to school tomorrow?" Tonya prompts. Leah nods, doing whatever it takes to finish this conversation so she can use up her new energy. "All right. Well, this diaper bag is pretty stocked. There's a lot of places we could go for you to run around a bit, like..."
