After a while, Jeff decides to risk it and call Riley’s “twin” into his dimension, ‘I just hope I won’t regret it,’ he thinks to himself as he types in Riley’s name into the “calling” field. Jeff takes a deep breath, running all possible scenarios, good and bad, through his head, the teen then frowns, “to hell, all I want is to bond with my little bro,” he grumbles, “and the only one who could help is his “twin”. What’s the worst that could happen,” and with that, Jeff confirms the input.
At first, nothing seems to happen, but then Jeff hears the sound like a laser coming from behind him, when he turns, his eyes widen when he sees a portal open, the scenery on the other side of the portal looks exactly like Riley’s room and staring back at Jeff in disbelief is what appears to be his little brother Riley, who is sitting on his bed, “what the hell,” the 10-year-old says, his eyes just as big as Jeff’s, surprise and shock on his face.
“It… it actually works,” Jeff mumbles, since the real Riley is out with friends, Jeff knows for a fact that the boy on the other side of the portal is Riley’s “twin” from another dimension.
“Riley” narrows his eyes, “what worked, and who the fuck are you,” he asks, “I KNOW you can’t be Jeff, Jeff is with his girlfriend. So, again, who the fuck are you and what the fuck is going on?!”
Jeff can’t help but chuckle, “THAT is exactly how Riley would react,” he says, he then shakes his head, “I can’t believe how similar you look to my brother, only the color of your eyes tells me that you are NOT my brother Riley. MY brother Riley has brown eyes, like me, while yours are blue, which, if you don’t mind me saying, have a mysterious and almost electric sparkle to them”.
“Okay… now I am even more confused,” Riley says, “can you please tell me what the fuck is going on?! How the fuck do you know my name? And WHY do you look like my stupid ass brother Jeff?”
“Hm… looks like I don’t have such a great relationship with you, even if it’s in a different dimension,” Jeff says, letting out a sigh, “but I guess I do owe you an explanation,” he then says and starts explaining everything to Riley.
“So, let me get this straight,” Riley says, “you got this program that is able to do anything and you decided to open a portal to another dimension, hoping that the “Riley”, me, would help you get closer to YOUR “Riley”? That doesn’t make any sense? Why not just try talking to him?”
“Because I tried, he always avoids me,” Jeff says, he then sighs, “all I want is to bond with him. I want to be the big brother he wishes for!”
Riley two tilts his head, what Jeff is unaware of is that he opened a portal to a dimension where the personalities are switched, meaning: people who have a good and kind personality, like in his reality, have a mischievous or evil personality. The 10-year-old seems to be thinking about something, ‘actually… I could have some fun with this “Jeff” and his family,’ he thinks to himself, ‘with that program… I could cause some beautiful chaos… hehe’. Riley two then smiles at Jeff, doing his best to look as friendly as possible, “sorry for acting like that, Jeff,” he says, “but you must understand why I acted that way”.
Jeff nods his head, “yeah, I would have reacted the same way,” he says.
“You know, I was thinking about what you had said,” the 10-year-old then says, “actually, it could be fun exploring a different dimension, I am kind of curious to see how different our dimensions are. So, I decided to, even though I doubt I’ll be of great help, try and help you get closer to your brother”.
Jeff smiles wide, “thanks, Riley,” he says.
Riley two then gets off his bed and steps through the portal, which closes behind him once he had stepped through it, “so, for how long will I be here,” he asks.
Jeff shrugs, “I honestly dunno,” he says, “I guess as long until I send you back?”
Riley nods, “so, tell me, have you had any ideas on how to bond with your Riley?”
“Well… how… how about we play some soccer,” Jeff suggests.
Riley two smirks, “I doubt you’ll be able to stand a chance against me,” he says, “my Jeff really sucks at soccer!”
Jeff blushes, “well… I… I’m not really that great, I must admit,” he says, ‘something about this “Riley” makes me nervous, but I don’t know why,’ the teen thinks to himself.
Riley two looks at Jeff’s laptop, “you know,” he says, “I think a great way to bond with him would be if you’d share that program of yours with him”.
Jeff turns to his laptop, “I… I dunno, I mean… he is pretty mischievous,” he says, “what if… what if he does something which I’ll regret in the end”.
Riley two grins, “no risk, no fun,” he says, “I promise nothing weird will happen, you can trust me, what do you have to lose? I think this is really the best why for us… I mean for your and your Riley to bond”.
Jeff thinks about it, ‘should I really risk it,’ he asks himself, ‘I am getting this weird vibe from him, I dunno if I can trust him! But… he does have a good point: sharing this program with Riley WOULD help us bond… besides… it could, as he says, actually be fun!’
