"Can we stop at the beach?" slurred Julie.
"I'm getting you home so you can sleep this off," replied Mindy.
"Puh-leeeeeze..." begged Julie. She put on the best sad puppy face her inebriation allowed.
Mindy sighed. She looked at Julie. Something made her take the next turn, heading toward the ocean.
It was after dark now and the small beach parking lot was otherwise empty. Julie got out of the car and took a deep breath to enjoy the salt air. Then she suddenly bounded off into the darkness. Mindy hurriedly got out of the car and went in search of her exuberant charge.
Mindy spotted Julie's clothes scattered on the sand before she found the little woman frolicking in the waves.
"What the hell are you doing?" asked Mindy.
"Letting the ocean caress me!" replied a gleeful Julie. Then a wave knocked over over. A moment later she staggered back to her feet, seemingly none of the worse.
"Get out of the water your drunk ass drowns."
Even as Mindy shook her head in amazement at Julie's drunken antics, she couldn't help but smile at how Julie had come out of her shell. She attributed it to the booze. What Mindy didn't know is that Julie was a closeted lesbian so the pheromones Caroline was giving off due to the mermaid virus were affecting Julie especially strongly. Hence the parting kiss.
Mindy stood just outside of the surf, trying to remember if she had a towel in her car. Then Julie half-bounded, half-fell out of the surf and into Mindy. The two women tumbled onto the sand. This wasn't by choice: Julie's legs were giving out.
There was a moment of quiet surprise, with a naked Julie on top of a clothed Mindy. Julie looked at Mindy dreamily then kissed her. Mindy briefly resisted, but the mermaid virus quickly melted that resistance. Their lips parted and they gazed at each other for a moment before beginning to make out. Mindy's hands drifted to Julie's ass, but there she felt something unexpected: scales.
"What the hell?" Mindy asked.
In response, Julie curly her tailfin backwards over head. In the moonlight, Mindy could barely make out an orange fish tail ending in a thinner, lighter tail fin. The change had been rapid, the sensations of the change muted by the alcohol.
Mindy was speechless as she realized Julie had abruptly turned into a mermaid.
