Of course it was Alex who, at the last moment, in the nick of time, managed to shake himself loose of the Sleepover King's spell and magic. He closed his eyes firmly and when he opened them up, he stared and glanced around. He found out fast that his two friends were not there in their minds. Their eyes held none of the awareness that should be there. Only wonder and amazement at the prospect of staying in that dimension, and at the marvellous things greeting their eyes. Marvellous things for eight-year-olds, true, but very appropriate and enticing for Luke and Carl at the moment. Alex had to concentrate hard so as not to feel the pull of the magic too much himself. He shook his two friends wildly, going as far as slapping them on the face.
"Come on! We're not kids! Remember! We're heroes! We have to get out of here! Now!"
He shouted loudly and thank goodness in his opinion, it worked. The two other brothers breathed deep and fast and darted their eyes around, recalling who they used to be. Prompted by Alex, they demanded to be made grown-ups and did so forcefully, ganging up on the King. He stammered but the Cyber Space Warriors demanded even more forcefully to be made adults again. The Sleepover King had magic, did he not? The three kids were getting very aggressive and so the Sleepover King felt frightened. Not wanting to be hurt by children of eight, he threw a powerful spell at them. These ones were too much potential trouble for sure. So the King propelled the three boys to the Fay Realm, where children were very popular with creatures, to adopt as progeny or pets. That would teach them to resist his magic and to be ungrateful at being kids again!
