You threw up in the toilet before standing back up, your head pounding and the whole room seemly to spin a little bit.
“You alright?” inquired one of your roommates from the other side of the door.
“Been better.” You call back. “Hopefully the medicine the clinic gave me will kick in soon. I hate the flu.”
“And you have a horrible case, can't believe they sent you back to the dorms.” Confirmed your roommate from the other side. “Just get some rest. I will give you my notes to copy from class.”
“Thanks, I am just glad it’s Friday and I don’t have any tests or papers due for over a week.” You yell back as best you can.
“I am going, get some rest.” Yelled your roommate back as you hear them walking away.
You head back to your room, you were not lucky enough to have your own private bathroom. You were after all only a sophomore at university that required you to stay in dorms. It wasn’t too bad, you had only one roommate in your room but with 8 two beds dorm that meant there were 16 people on this side of the building with 16 more in a matching set up on the other side and matching set up on each floor.
The floor was set up with a large common room in the center with two hallways leading off it. One for men and one for women with a private bathroom shared by the 8 men and 8 women in each hallway. Overall it wasn’t bad and you got along with everyone in both halls and hung out together in the common room.
None of that mattered at the moment.
You walk back into your room, bracing your hand on the wall of the hallway a few times to keep your balance from your pounding headache and climb back into bed. Hoping some rest will allow you to feel human once again.
But you would never feel human again, for you do not have the flu, you have the furry virus and soon your humanity will be gone forever.
