"First things first. Before I do anything else I'm making myself much older. Solid 30 is a good start." Heather said as she removed the number six. Behind her she heard a loud knock as she pressed the number three without erasing the other number making the screen display 23 at her age.
"Mom! We are hungry. Can you make us some food?" Simon coughed behind the door.
"In a moment. Mommy's.. umm... busy!" Heather said as she turned arond and pressed enter to accept the changes without seeing what she had just changed.
The computer begun to do it's calculation as Heather begun to lose years from herself. The changes weren't that big and as she walked past a full body mirror she just smiled how good looking she was. For a 30-year-old mother she looked stunning. While in reality the chronivac had made her three years younger. She walked to the living room and made sure with a key that the computer room stayed locked for the day. She didn't want her boysm Simon and his new brother Ed, messing with it. Heather's motherly instincts had started to kick in and she felt happy how she had two healthy boys to take care.
The hours passed as Heather helped by they boys made the dinner ready. As the clock struck seven Simon's father John came back home with his car. The story was that his brother, also named John, had invited him for his wingman to a local bar. He wanted to tell him something but they were kept constantly interrupted by the staff who worked there. One of them being someone they both knew by name.
"It was weird evening to be sure. Like, my brother, had something to tell me but somehow my ex, Matilda, kept pestering us while we just tried to talk. The whole evening went under the mat for both us as she couldn't handle our twin puns." As John gave a small peck on her mother wife's red cheek.
"It seems you've been busy today." John said as she gave a loving hug to Heather. "Did they boys help?"
"Yes, also I think they are happy to see you too. Including me." Heather said and replied with a wet kiss while they were alone in the entryway.
Heather noticed that somehow the change had also gave her a silver ring on her finger which looked beautiful. Heather's heart was melting as she swallowed a small lump. She had never thought how warm it felt to have a loving husband like him in her life. John walked to the living room and begun to light up the fireplace as it was becoming cold outside. Heather noticed a small photo on top of the fireplace and went to inspect it closer. Heather looked at it and was amazed how recent it was. There she was in a wedding dress hugging John. Another photo caught Heather's eyes as she was lying on the grass with the boys, Simon and Ed. It seemed that the photo was taken by his husband. She went through every photo that was displayed there. All five of them looked a bit off but Heather didn't care as she found them more cute. Maybe it was better for her to just live her life like this with a man who was in his... wait a minute... how old was John again... why couldn't she remember? Anyway if she was in her 30s and she had the boys when she was twenty two it didn't matter to her what was happening behind the scenes. Heather was feeling butterflies in her stomach and was what she wanted in the end. John was a loving father and husband who she had always dreamt about. Simon and Ed were waiting for them to get back to the kitchen as they were getting peckish from all the waiting.
