“The flesh is weak.” Amy’s voice was almost a mad little giggle. She looked at herself, at the cyborg body in the mirror that wasn’t hers, couldn’t be hers.
But it was hers now.
Instead of the weak flesh she was birthed with, a touch more than eighteen years ago, this wondrous machine had given her a new form with the strength and certainty of steel. It had a similar shape but infinitely more resilient, better, stronger, faster, and maybe even smarter.
Her glowing green eyes shone with mad intensity as she put a changed hand to the unchanged chin and cheek, rubbing it in awe and confusion, mouth open in slack-jawed disbelief.
“I’m…” She searched for a word, unable to find one that fit all her emotions for a scant few seconds before eagerly embracing “beautiful.” Another few moments, now evaluating herself with a critical eye... “But incomplete.” It wasn’t necessarily the organic lower part of her face that needed to be replaced (but certainly would be) as much as those vital organs which her internal diagnostics quickly identified.
Those were organic, and prone to failure, added nothing, and were better suited by mechanical replacements.
Frowning with her still organic mouth she sighed lightly, turning to return to the chamber and thankfully finding another few quarters. Without much further thought she got to browsing the options. Might as well get rid of as much as she can, so she was going for a fully articulated face since she felt it looked good rather than any sort of plate or inhuman face; at least for now. That and the full replacement for her organs left her with just a little bit of her brain organic. That was probably important, but the prospect of a full conversion did appeal.
And that’s when the cyborg noticed other options that the machine didn't have available before. Options like programming and knowledge, body enhancements like wings or treads and extra arms, and even preset skill and enhancement packages to turn her into a cyborg maid, soldier, or something else.
Gears turned in her head, literally in this case. She could use this machine to enhance herself further, give herself programming, build herself into the perfect machine of her dreams.
Selecting a mix of programming and enhancements to her body and mind, the new cyborg was soon satisfied. Maybe she could pick something else later, but even if she couldn’t, the programming she was having put in would make sure she was happy with her choice. With a coin inserted, she pressed the button to make her the...
