"Mikey has been very well-behaved for us," Stacey commented. Mike, who suddenly realized he liked being called Mikey, smiled behind his pacifier at the compliment. "I think he should have some ice cream!"
"Oh, that's a great idea, Stace," Jim said. They headed for the food court. As they made their way through the mall, Mikey became aware of an unpleasant feeling in his tummy, but ignored it.
They arrived at the food court and got in line for the ice cream shop. Mikey was a bit disappointed by the flavor he was given, as well as the size, but Jim whispered to him that his little body could only handle so much. Which made sense. After all, his tummy was already feeling weird. He didn't want to make it worse.
They went to a table and Jim pulled Mikey out of the stroller to sit on his lap while he ate his ice cream. Stacey sighed happily.
"Aw, look at my two boys together!" she gushed. She took out her phone and began taking multiple pictures.
"C'mon, Stace, you need to eat your ice cream," Jim pointed out eventually. Stacey smiled and sat down.
"Sorry. I think the breastfeeding hormones, combined with Mikey's new appearance, are making me feel some weird things."
"You're not the only one in that boat, believe me," Jim said as he wiped some ice cream off Mikey's chin. Mikey froze mid-bite. "Something wrong?"
There was in fact something wrong. Mikey had just identified what the feeling in his tummy was. And it was too late to do anything about it.
Mikey began to grunt loudly. His face turned red, both from effort and embarrassment, as he pooped his pants sitting on Jim's lap. But Jim didn't seem perturbed. He just chuckled.
"I guess you needed your morning poop, huh, slugger?" he joked. Stacey chuckled as well.
It was a weird moment, to have Stacey and Jim ignoring Mikey while he filled his diaper up. They were just eating their ice cream and making plans as Mikey emptied his bowels. Weird, but also nice for them to not make it a whole thing.
After a few minutes, Mikey sighed in relief.
"Done?" Jim asked. Mikey settled back, spreading the mess in his diaper, and nodded. "All right. You, little guy, need a fresh diaper. So let's get you changed..."
