Emily moved a stray hair back behind her ear as she looked at her notepad containing the notes from her Art History class. She actually wasn’t a huge fan of the history part of art history but since she was studying graphic design at university it was a prerequisite.
She sat in a small sound proof room which was one of many inside the main library on campus. She was awaiting the rest of her project group as she looked at the little bronze figure with snake people and a snake god which sat at the center of the table.
“God, I hate snakes, why did I get assigned this one.” Stated Emily as she heard the door open as the 1st two members of her group came in.
It was a pair of women about her age however if she recalled correctly the blonde one Lily was actually a junior to her sophomore. Still she wasn’t totally sure about that. Neither Lily nor the black hair women, Chloe were taking this class because they where art majors or even in art related fields like Emily was. If she recalled correctly Lily was actually criminal justice and Chloe was psychology, but the university required everyone to take an art course and they picked this one.
“How are you doing, Emily?” inquired Lily friendly enough as she and Chloe sat down beside each other.
“Been better, been thinking about who will do what on this project?” explained Emily
“Well isn’t Diego in computer sciences? We should let him do all the computer stuff.” Advised Chloe
“I was thinking the same.” Said Emily as the door opened again.
“Speaking of the devil.” Laughed Lily as a shorter man with glasses but a very kind and in Emily’s view at least cute board line handsome face walked in.
“What?” asked Diego somewhat quietly.
“We were thinking letting you handle making the power point as we break down all the art stuff over this snake statue thing.” Explained Chloe
“Oh…not a problem.” Stated Diego as he moved to his own chair.
A couple of minutes later, the last two members of their group walked in.
“Got to go, talk to you later have to work on a project.” Said the business major Olivia as she hung up her cell phone and sat down next to her boyfriend. She was radiating rich girl energy and that was true, however it was clear to Chloe the psychology major that Olivia was hanging on by a thread as she tried to keep up the pressure put on her by her parents and herself.
“Well let’s get this show on the road.” Offered her boyfriend Mike who seemed more down to earth and less stressed then his girlfriend. Maybe that was just the business major side coming through or something else.
“Well…we have this statue, and it is clearly Egyptian inspired.” stated Chloe as she picked up the bronze figures of a couple of snake people and a snake god. “So we should start with Egyptian influences and…”
Before she could finish she felt the bronze statue heat up in her hands before a blinding flash of light filled the entire study area.
