…….a crib that is big enough for more than one baby. “That’s the one you want slugger?!” Jim said surprised.
Mikey nodded his head and took out his pacifier. “That way I can hawve a bwother or sistuhr.” Mike stated. This made Stacey and Jim smile, both were getting teary-eyed also.
“Want a sibling buddy?” Stacey asked, “yesth,” said Mikey.
Jim and Stacey both looked at each other. “Alright then, let’s get this bad boy home,” said Jim.
They purchased the crib and headed home. Putting the crib together took all day for Jim, who was happy to do so. It made him feel more like a dad and it gave him a big sense of responsibility for his new son, Mikey.
He was so proud to hear that he wanted a sibling. Stacey and him had yet to get married, but maybe that was in the cards now that Mikey was a part of their permanent life.
Once he finished, Stacey came in to help furnish the crib and went to grab Mikey out in his playpen. “Alright Mikey, it’s bedtime for you,” she stated as she picked him up to take him to the nursery.
Jim and Stacey got Mikey dressed and his nursery organized. Once Mikey was in his pajamas and had his pacifier, they both laid him down into bed. “How’s this feel champ?” Jim asked Mikey, who took his pacifier out, “ith feewz good.” Both Stacey and Jim chuckled at his coziness.
“Alright kiddo, we got your baby monitor hooked up so we can keep an eye on you. You’ll be nice and snug in here” Stacey told him as she gave him a stuffed animal and Jim blanketed him. He was all tucked in and ready for bed.
Jim pointed to him mouth to remind Mikey of what was absolutely vital for him to get night-night kisses. Mikey responded by putting his pacifier back in his mouth. “There ya go champ,” Jim encouraged as he bent down to kiss Mikey on his cheek. Stacey followed afterwards with her own motherly kiss on his other cheek. He felt happy to be loved like this.
“Goodnight sport, sweet dreams. Mom and Dad love you bunches.” Stacey comforted Mikey as they both watched him close his eyes slowly and suck his pacifier off to sleep. They smiled at him and slowly walked out of the room, turning off the lights behind them.
