Circe quickly forgot about Damon's plight. If one listened to her, she had done nothing wrong. It was all the fault of that thoughtless ingrate. If he had remained a toad, she would have been agreeable to him, transforming him into a creature he would have enjoyed, or appreciated eventually. Emphasis on the word "eventually". Now he was a sow about to be mounted more times than he could possibly count, and it served him right. He could have just been content with being a toad. Her using his warts would have meant nothing to him! On the contrary, he could have lounged around all day, with none of the human concerns that had plagued his life anymore. But no! This idiotic mortal had NOT been content and had foolishly attempted to scape her! Yes, an utter fool, really! The stupid ingrate! He deserved his fate! Daring escaping her and making HER look like an idiot! The impudence. Well, he could have another life now, one that would make him regret his existence as a warty toad.
As Circe went back to sorting her herbs, crushed minerals and other ingredients, she heard a tinkling sound. The bell at her gates. A sparrow flitted in and told her a girl was there. A young girl in a green uniform and with boxes of cookies. Girl Scouts. Circe always found them perfectly boring, but maybe this was her chance to gave fun and forget completely about the idiot in the pigsty. She went to the gates and the sight did not disappoint. The young maiden could not be older than twelve springs and her uniform was too loose on her - and very ugly in Circe's mind. The child had boxes of sugary confections, two small braids and was the picture of the uninteresting girl in a boring club. The child asked her a bit warily if she wished for cookies. Circe knew immediately what she could do with this girl and as she pretended to inspect the choices in the boxes, opening the gates to her domain, she tapped the girl on the head with her wand and spoke out a spell. The transformation was instantaneous but that was normal, for a powerful sorceress like Circe.
