[Ty's viewpoint]
As Ty walked into the kitchen, he was surprised that Mark followed him. As they sat down to the table, Mark said, "I think June can handle this better without me, I'm not usually a calming influence on him. On anyone."
Ty replied, "Thank you for being calm and helping me through this. I know I was hard on you, getting your attention, and I'm truly sorry about that. When June gets Dustin calmed down, I hope we can work through this, as a family."
Mark cleared his throat. "I know I haven't been a good father to you. I'm stubborn, and used to ordering everyone around. You said we'd have some changes, and I see that I need to change a lot."
"Dad? Can I call you Dad?" Ty started, and Mark nodded. "We'll all need some changes, me included, but I think we can work it out as a family. When you came back, I wanted to apologize and fix Dustin, but also to try to improve me own life. That was selfish of me. We can all work to improve all of our lives. I'm not asking you to change your whole attitude overnight. I'd just like to be treated with a little more respect, and I'll treat you with more respect, too."
Mark nodded his head. "I will try to do that. Not just for you; I need to respect June and Dustin more too. I have one request for you. If you see me falling back into my old pattern, please just give me a gentle reminder. That freezing thing is pretty rough."
"Yes, Dad." Ty smiled. "I don't want to do more of that either."
