Eric looked around and in spite of his fears and confusion, he could not help being awestruck at the unbelievable beauty of his new surroundings. Coral and algae moved gently in the currents. The waters had an incredible turquoise hue to it. The bright sun above shone into the water, like mirror shards above and shafts of golden light below. Clownfish and turtles, as well as myriads of other sea animals swam about, merely casting a few curious looks at the new species next to them. Most did not seem to notice, though. Luckily, no sharks, barracudas or other aggressive species about. His red hair flowing perfectly behind him, Eric swam slowly to look at the incredible life teeming all around him. His tail moved up and down, like a dolphin's, even though it possessed scales and a fluke belonging to a fish species, with red hues on the very tip. Eric jumped back when a pink octopus went out of its hole curiously to look at him, its tentacles touching Eric's now slender fingers tentatively. Fascinated with this new interaction, Eric let himself be inspected, seeing the tentacles gliding along his slender arms. Eric lost himself in the alien beauty and grace of the animal, letting his hair flowing around. Why, that sweet octopus was wrapping his own tentacles into his red locks! His locks that had the same color as red coral. Coral... Such a pretty word... It fitted his hair so perfectly, so why not bear it? So much more elegant than Eric. So much more feminine... He... well, she... stared at her own body, her skin soft and pale. It felt so relaxing and fulfilling to move through water... Who could dream to fly in the air after that? Leaving the nice octopus to glide back into its rocky home, Coral swam energetically to the surface and jumped out of the water into a perfect arch. She saw that a few tropical islands with trees and white sand were on the horizon. All were bursting with vivid flowers and colors. How enchanting! Hitting the water again, Coral could only think about exploring and making new friends. Her past life was already forgotten, replaced by new instincts and aquatic desires in tune with her new blissful environment. the marvels in front of Eric's eyes had blossomed into full enthralling wonder, allowing him to forget about his old existence and identity extremely fast. And this life would be much, much better than the one he left behind. The realm in which he now lived had a new mermaid and frankly, it was much better as such.
