Dan could feel a familiar pressure building in her abdomen. She needed to poop. But in her current state, she wouldn't be able to use a regular toilet. She could use her diaper, but the thought of doing so again upset her more than being mistaken for a real toddler. The feeling of the mess in her diaper was horrible.
So, Dan stopped running. She crossed her legs as she waited for Kyle to catch up to her.
"Why did you run?" he asked.
"I gotta boom-boom," Dan said in as childish a voice as she could make. Kyle's eyes widened. He turned on his radio.
"I caught her. She ran off 'cause she's gotta go number two. I'll bring her back to the daycare." Kyle turned off the radio and scooped Dan into his arms. "We'll go faster this way," he said to her. Dan nodded. As Kyle carried her through the store, Dan thought about what to do next. She could try to convince someone of her true identity, but that seemed exhausting to do. Her tiny toddler body was worn out from everything that had happened. She didn't want to do any of the legwork. Someone would find her badge or notice Dan was missing, and figure it out from there.
By the time they arrived at the store daycare, Dan was sure of her plan. She'd basically give herself a day off and wait for someone to realize what had happened.
Kyle handed Dan over to a daycare worker, who brought Dan to a toddler training potty. In seconds, Dan's bare butt was on the seat, and she smiled as, for the first time that day, she pooped in a toilet.
"Good girl!" gushed the worker helping her. Dan peed as well, then got up. The worker wiped her down and diapered her again. Dan toddled off in the large play area of the daycare. She found a secluded corner and curled up, falling asleep quickly.
