As Dan ran through the store, she felt her coordination slipping. Movement was getting more difficult. Before long, she was stuck toddling through the aisles. To make things worse, Dan's thoughts were beginning to change. Specifically, her vocabulary became more and more childish. All the swears she knew, she forgot, replacing them with juvenile terms like "meanie" or "poopie-head". Her diaper became her diapy, defecating became poopie or boom-boom, and urinating became pee-pee. She could still think like an adult, but the words she knew didn't reflect that.
Dan didn't realize because she wasn't trying to talk, but her ability to speak was also decreasing to match that of a toddler. Thankfully, before the girl could make Dan forget how to read, write, do math, or other adult skills, her mother confiscated her phone, scolding her for not paying attention.
But the damage had already been done. Dan was now, for all intents and purposes, a toddler. She came to a stop in the outdoor supplies, trying to decide her next move. She couldn't keep running now that she had coordination to match her current age. It was too exhausting and slow.
