Emily was a 17-year-old high school student living with her single mother who was nearing her forties. Emily's mother Luna had always been a control freak ever since Emily's father cheated on her mother. When it was decided which parent should keep Emily. Emily's father had already moved on and told her daughter to live with her mother. Emily's father promised to keep contact with Emily as he wanted to explore the world. From that day forward Emily's father kept sending Emily birthday presents from his travels all over the world as he loved her daughter.
On Emily's 17th birthday she received a big package with a weird bone-shaped gift wrapped in brown paper and a letter next to the gift via snail mail. The letter, sent by Emily's father, explained to Emily that the little piece of artifact made out of magic would grant her daughter's deepest wishes for her nerdy hobby. What was Emily's nerdy hobby? Time travel and anything involved with time. Her favorite movies, books and fanfictions involved time travel or messing with time in some odd way. If Emily's father's little trinket was able to fulfill her wishes she had to use it. Emily's obsession for time was a mixture of coping because of her mother's resentment for her father and the six year passive aggressive helicopter parenting. Emily wanted her happy days back and felt the memories remerge whenever she thought about time or time travel. Emily thought about her father's present and saw it as an opportunity to fix her mother's constant hateful and passive aggresive attitude.
Emily opened the sealed brown package which contained the bone. Emily hold it in her hand and wished for herself to travel back in time for six years in the past. Nothing happened. She read her father's letter again, but it was missing the crucial part, which was an explanation how the thing worked. Emily had no idea how to make the bone conjure it's magic as she wished and wished for something to happen to herself. After couple of minutes Emily gave up and decided to keep the bone as a souvenir from her father. Emily's mother Luna walked to the room to asked why her daughter was sulking all by herself. Emily explained that her father had sent her the wishing bone that was on the desk and she couldn't get it to work.
Luna looked at it and tried to do the same thing as her daughter did but still nothing. Emily's mother placed the bone back on the desk and wished that her husband had explained how it work to her daughter. Luna shook her head and exited the room as Emily saw a piece of paper fall down from the deck to the floor. It was a second letter from Emily's father which explained a little bit in more detail how the wishing bone made it magic and how it worked. It wasn't a full explanation but only a part of it. The letter explained how it only worked on other people and couldn't be directly used by the wielder themselves. The wish had to be directed at someone else. Emily's sour face took a 180-degree turn and she grabbed the bone from her desk. She had to try it out on somebody but who?
