Jeff looked at Jenny and saw that she was missing something.
"Jenny. What do they call those Egyptian half-cat half-human thingies?" Jeff asked from struggling Jenny.
"How should I know? Why do you ask? Oh god. Please don't transform me into a feral cat. I beg you. Don't do it." Jenny whined on the floor.
Jeff turned around and opened an internet encyclopedia to search what was it what they called those things he had in his mind. After some time spent digging through internet and with loads of tabs opened to Jeff's browser. Jeff founded out that the word he was looking for was sphinx. Jenny had no wings but some of the sphinxes in the pictures he found didn't have them either.
“Jeff. Could you at least give me back my thumbs. These paws are really annoying me.” Jenny begged and patted Jeff with her cat paw.
“Okay. What if I do this instead. Then I make sure that your body knows this time how to walk as if you've always been like that.” Jeff said.
Jeff begun to tick boxes from a list and wrote down multiple paragraphs to make sure that Jenny's transformation had less friction than the previous one. After three minutes had passed Jeff pressed enter key and turned back to face Jenny. Jenny felt something happening inside her body. She begun to grow height from her waist. Jenny’s DD-sized chest, shoulders and head were getting further away from her cat paws and out of her shoulder joints popped another pair of human arms. It was as if Jenny’s upper half was attached to a cat’s head as Jenny could move like normal but her lower half resembled a lion. She was now able to get herself into a proper standing position as she used her four cat paws as her legs.
“Oh god. Jeff what did you do to me now? I look like a freak with these six limbs.” Jenny exclaimed and looked at her normal human hands. “I'm glad that you listened to me. Thanks for that and thanks for giving my thumbs back. It feels weird how easily I can move like this but, ugh, I guess that wasn't all as I can feel something else happening in my body?"
The transformation didn’t end there as Jenny’s cat hair extended itself on to her lower half. Jenny now had a fur coat that covered her whole lower half and left her human half still without fur. Jenny's spine was extending itself further to form a lion like tail. Jeff looked at Jenny who looked like a centaur but instead of being a half-horse she was a half-cat.
“So what am I now?” Jenny asked from Jeff as she was finally able to move normally even if her cat side was walking on all fours.
“Well. If people call those mythical half-horse men centaurs. I think you are now a, uhm, sphinx-taur or feline-taur? I'm not sure myself.” Jeff thought out loud. “Also don’t worry. I made sure that your body knows how to move this time, except…”
“Jeff…? Except for what?” Jenny asked with a hint of worry.
“I might have accidentally made your parents and whole family tree sphinx-taurs too.” Jeff said as he read the text from the chronivac.
“What do you mean by ‘I accidentally made my family sphinx-taurs’ ? You mean there’s now more people looking like me? Is that what you are saying?” Jenny raised her voice.
“I don’t know. I guess? The computer's still calculating something as you can see and I have no clue what it is doing right now.” Jeff said and felt something happening with his own body too. “Oh no. I think it’s spreading. I might have accidentally made the transformation global.”
Jeff fell to the floor and saw how his legs and butt was elongating and lengthening further from his waist. Jeff was experiencing the same changes as Jenny was moments ago and in minutes Jeff looked similar to Jenny but had different type of fur pattern and different colored fur that matched his own hair color.
“Oops. I think my 'ifs' might have caused the whole world to change. I just wanted to make sure that you know how to walk with those paws.” Jeff paused for a moment and thought about what he just said.
“Why can’t I say paws? Paws. Paws-paws-paws. Oh no. The chronivac's doing something to our language. Jenny. Can you say paws? I mean paws. Paws! Jenny! These!” Jeff whimpered on the floor and showed Jenny his paws.
“Paws. No. I meant paws! Oh god Jeff! You are right. I know what you mean but I can’t call my paws what they are. It’s as if we never had a word for ‘paws’. Oh dear lord sphinx. Sphinx? Oh sphinx what am I saying. Sphinx! The word for ‘sphinx’ is also changing.” Jenny looked at Jeff. “Jeff. Do something! I don’t want to worship a cat deity!”
Jeff saw the computer’s power plug and thought for a while if he should just pull it or try and cancel the change as it was still occurring. Jeff considered for a second what he should do next.
