Leafing through the slightly slimy pages of the magical book, Dan made a snap decision. He mumbled through the unfamiliar Latin of an immobilization spell. Amazingly, three green beams emanated from the book's spine and trapped Kat and her two friends in separate glowing globes. There they hovered, weightless, while Dan decided their fates.
First, he took stock of just who was deserving of his revenge. There was Kat, of course, his older sister. She was a typical eighteen-year-old goth girl. Short hair that never stayed one color for long. Far too much eyeliner. Her skin's whiteness augmented with powder make-up and dark lip-stick. She was thin, but not skinny. Her breasts were a modest "B" cup; though her tight corsets made them seem larger. As a goth she'd always had a dark streak, but having her inherit this level of power was a recipe for disaster for Dan.
He turned his eyes left to Kat's best friend Jade. Her face was buried in her hands, almost as if she knew was he was about to do. She'd spent many nights sleeping over, while she and Kat giggled about ways to torment Dan. Dan suspected that Jade was the real instigator of most of the embarrassing jokes Kat liked to play on him. His recent transformation was only the most recent, but by far the strangest. Jade's long black hair cascaded over her face as she sobbed. She was also goth, but far better endowed than his sister. Her ample chest drew a lot of male attention from the high school boys and she liked the power she held over them. He burned to make HER feel helpless for a change.
On the right Dan was surprised to see Rachel. She was the only one of Kat's friends he didn't despise. Sort of a bookworm, 16-year old Rachel was far less outgoing than Kat of Jade. She wore dark sweaters to hide her body, which Dan always thought was average but nothing to be ashamed about. She had long brown hair and her face was usually hidden by her glasses. Whenever she came over to visit Kat, She and Dan would have long conversations of the sci-fi variety. A few minutes of this kind of talk usually made Kat sigh and stamp off in a huff. Dan was several months younger than Rachel, but he'd always held out hope dating her someday. Could that day be today? With the power in his hands, anything was possible.
He stared at his sister now, as she banged at the walls of her glowing prison. She looked so helpless that he almost lost his nerve to teach her her lesson. Then his mind flashed back on the two hours he'd spent getting in touch with his inner amphibian earlier tonight and his anger returned.
"Can you hear me?", he said to his sister. Her response was a muffled series of assorted threats and profanity. He took this as evidence that she could. "Well, sis, it looks like you're not the only one in the family with magical abilities. One look at me back to normal should make that clear."
She was yelling something again, but he couldn't quite make it out. Something about his transformation only being...temporary...weak spell and that he... with forces he couldn't control. "A trick", a voice from in his head seemed to be speaking. He was sure it was his rational self calling out for revenge.
"You'll all be sorry for picking on me all these years". He located the perfect spell and advanced on his sister. She cringed back as best she could and covered her face with her arms. At that, Dan suddenly spun left and began the incantation facing Jade. She never even looked up as he finished the spell. Kat came back to her senses and looked over to her changing friend. Dan couldn't stifle a cruel smile.
Jade thrust her arms out as if stung by an invisible bee. Her arms began to recede into her upper body as all her exposed skin took on a slight shine. She turned her shocked expression from Kat to Dan and back. Kat could only watch as Jade's spine bent suddenly forward as the back of her shirt expanded outward. Only her hands were left sticking out of the sides of her shoulders as her black dress suddenly ripped from the mounting pressure. Kat gasped as the transformation became clear. Her best friend was becoming a slimy snail. A large shell loomed over Jade's back and her legs had merged into a slimy, boneless nub. Her hands were completely gone and her dark hair fell out all at once. Her still human face let out a scream as her eyes bulged out until they sat on 6-inch stalks.
