They walked out of the bathroom and Leah pointed to the kiddy pool. She didn't actually think she'd have any fun there. She just wanted to do something without Uncle Tom glued to her side. Uncle Tom smiled at her.
"Good choice! Maybe you can make some friends and play with them," he suggested. Leah shrugged. Her mind was reeling with what was going on. She was wearing a diaper, sucking a pacifier, and about to play in the kiddy pool. What had she gotten herself into?
They walked over to the kiddy pool. Thankfully, Uncle Tom stood back, letting Leah wander into the pool on her own. She splashed about reluctantly, trying to look the part. She glanced back at Uncle Tom, who gave her a big smile and gestured at some of the toddlers in the pool, clearly wanting her to interact with them.
With a soft sigh of resignation, Leah walked over to the closest toddler, a girl a bit bigger than her.
"Hi. I'm Hailey," Leah said around her pacifier. The girl looked her up and down.
"You're a baby," she said confidently, and walked away. Leah stood there, dumbfounded. Did that really just happen? How far she had fallen. There was only one thing to do.
