Dalton examined his hands, his arms, his legs and even his hair. Everything seemed normal. It wasn't until he looked at Ashlynne that he understood what had happened.
Ashlynne was looking at Dalton with a knowing look as she rubbed the stubble growing on her cheeks. She had Dalton's face! Immediately Dalton's hands went to his own face. It was smooth without a trace of his whiskers. "What did you do?" he asked her, relieved that it was his own voice that came out of his mouth.
"You can't guess?"
"Have we swapped faces?"
"Sure have! Come on! We need to find a mirror"
The nearest mirror was in a nearby public toilet. Dalton went into the men's and got a few strange looks from other patrons as he installed himself in front of the mirror and examined his reflection. It only confirmed what Dalton already knew. He now had Ashlynne's brown eyes, shaped eyebrows and flawless complexion. He was also wearing lipstick, mascara and rouge. The face melted seamlessly to his normal scalp and neck. The join seemed to be just above his Adam's apple, he was lucky to still have his own voice. He still had his own short brown hair and his own ears. Dalton practised smiling. He now had Ashlynne's perfect white teeth. The smile he had fallen in love with.
Ashlynne was the opposite. Their faces had literally been swapped. She looked like a man in drag - no probably more a rather ugly woman with a facial hair problem. There was no mistaking that the rest of her body was 100% female.
"So are we going to stay like this for the rest of the day?" Dalton asked, when they met up again.
"I don't think we have any choice. Our man is packing up" Ashlynne pointed over Dalton's shoulder. Sure enough the man was loading the Flesh to Flesh machine into a van.
"Why is he leaving? Should we stop him?" Dalton got up and ran towards the van. However he didn't make it. He was still 20 metres away as the van drove off. He grabbed a woman who was setting up some other apparatus on the stage. "What's happening? Why are you setting up here?"
"Who are you?" she asked. Then when she took in Dalton's face "What are you?"
"The man selling the Flesh to Flesh machines. Why has he gone?"
"How should I know? His time has finished so he has probably gone home. Let me set up please. I have paid a lot of money to hire this stage. I only have 2 hours. My time is ticking"
"Do you know where he come from?"
Dalton found that Ashlynne was tugging on his arm. "Leave the woman alone. She doesn't know anything" Dalton let himself be led away. "You gave the man your address. No doubt our own machine will be delivered this afternoon. Let's have lunch and check out the rest of the fair"
"Aren't you worried we might be stuck like this"
"Your'e just a worrywart Dalton! The man said he would give us a machine, so I'm sure he will. Relax! Come on. There's a burger stall over there. Let's get lunch"
