Back in his bedroom, Ty asked Lisa, "Do you want to 'cheat' on your homework now?"
"Yes." She pulled out her phone, and set it on his desk.
She felt odd for a moment, and Ty said, "I've just given you the ability to turn on and off the one-way soundproofing I've been setting up when we're alone. You should be able to do that here, and in yor bedroom. And anywhere else you like."
"Thank you!"
"This time, why don't you transform yourself," Ty suggested. "Let's see wheher you can 'program' your own app behavior. Think about starting up automatically, what you intend to do while you're an app, and what you'll do when you've completed it. Also think about how you want to react to outside influences."
"Got it," she said, and disappeared.
He heard a notification from her phone, and looked over. There was momentarily the usual "new app installed", but that went away and the Lisa app opened. "How can I help you?" she asked.
Ty was disappointed that his suggestion hadsn't worked better, but then she said, "Just kidding. I'm already doing my schoolwork."
"You had me worried for a moment. I thought maybe the app programming was too ingrained to override."
"Before, I could only do what you asked. Now I seem to be able to do the things that I planned before transforming. Other than those things, I still might be limited," she said.
"If you are working on something, get interrupted, and transform back to human, will you later be able to resume from where you left off, when you next become an app?"
"Ooh, another hypothetical question. Those are still tricky for me in this form. I think so, but I'm not completely certain."
"OK, I'll leave you to it," Ty told her. "Good luck." He left and went back to the living room.
