Suddenly, the hare woman began walking toward the counter where Maya and Greg were. She stopped a few feet away from them before asking them something, "Excuse me, but could I bother you on knowing WHY the two of you keep pointing and looking at me?"
Maya and Greg didn’t say anything. Maya out of fear and confusion from everything that had happened so far and Greg from feeling annoyed about the altercation about to happen.
"EXCUSE ME, I asked y’all a question," she stated in an exasperated manner. The woman appeared to be angry, having taken offense at what the two of them had "supposedly" been doing, and them not responding only seemed to be making things worse.
"Ma’am, we were only talking about the shirts. This girl was only asking about them," Greg lied, hoping the hare would fall for it.
"Do you think I was born yesterday? I know you were talking about me. Now tell me what the problem is before I make one."
Greg had to forcefully stop himself from rolling his eyes at what the woman had stated and only said, "Ma’am we don’t want any problems here. Trust me, we were only talking about the clothing, not you."
"Is that so? Then what shirt in specific was she asking about?"
"The purple one."
"Suurrreee… it just so happened to be the exact one I wanted. I bet it was even the same size too, huh?" the leporid said sarcastically.
Although Maya felt terrified at the moment—the hare being so close to her only adding to it—she didn’t want to cause a big scene in the gift shop and just make things worse. "I-it’s true," Maya said, quickly entering the conversation. "I wanted to buy a shirt for my mom and she’s around your size."
The hare glared at her, her longs ears twitching slightly as she observed Maya, trying to make out if she was fibbing or not.
"Sorry, but is there a problem here?" a voice asked and the three of them looked to see a stoat standing near them and holding a purple shirt hanging from a clothes hanger in his left hand.
"I suppose not," the hare said in a dissatisfied way before heading to the manager and receiving the shirt from him. She then walked further into the store and, luckily, further away from the three of them.
"She’s probably going to change more people by accident," Maya thought as she watched the woman quickly disappear behind the shelves of merchandise.
"I think you should probably join the rest of your class," Greg said.
Maya turned back to face him and recoiled in fear. Greg the human was no more, an anthro lion now in his place, wearing the same uniform and now holding a sheet of paper in his hand. She could only assume that his manager must have touched him somehow and that the piece of paper had something to do with it. Funnily enough, in spite of now being a feline, Maya could still make out the same uninterested expression that was always on his face.
Maya backed away from the counter and nodded her head slightly, now viewing the cashier in fear. "Uh… yeah. I’ll go do that now," she said.
