Mike and Sei dashed upstairs, each trying to beat the other to the top. They tied, and laughed at each other as they looked around the gloomy hallway.
"Man, this looks like something out of a bad horror movie." said Mike. "Gotta be some ghosts and monsters hanging around here."
Sei shook his head. "Why is it always monsters? Can't an old house have something fun in it? I mean, don't you get tired of all the blood and crap they have in the movies? People played games and had toys and hobbies back in the old days, too."
Mike snorted. "Right. Maybe we'll find a haunted Lego set, or a stuffed animal that wants you to be its owner."
"Say, look over there!" Sei pointed at a very ornately carved door. It had animals, and old fashioned planes and cars and trains on it, as well as children and babies of all ages. "Now this is too weird." He opened the door and looked in. "Holy shit! You gotta see this!"
Mike came over as Sei pushed the door open. Although there was only a little light coming in from a curtained window, they could make out a huge room cluttered with all sorts of strange stuff. Sei looked down by the door. "There's a toy car here!"
Mark stuck his head in. "You must be psychic or something, Sei! This place is fuill of toys!"
The two boys went in, amazed. Every kind of old fashioned toy they could imagine was there. Some of the stuff looked to be from the fifties, other stuff might have been a hundred years old or older. There was a fancy cruiser-type bike, blocks, a kid's chemistry set, stuffed animals, dolls, even stuffed animals and teeth rings for babies.
"Wow!" Sei looked around. "This stuff must be worth a fortune!"
"Yeah!" Mark grinned. "And it's all ours! I mean, the place is abandoned, right? Say, this looks pretty cool." He reached down to pick up something from the floor.
