Walking out of the store, he cannot help but notice that his body hasn't changed at all, and that unlike the necklace, his body felt no tingling. In fact, he wouldn't be surprised if this had been some other trick of the shop owners. It certainly would be in keeping with the theme of that damn shop.
"Uh, Chris...don't turn around," said Alex.
"Why not?" asked Chris, turning around.
His stomach lurched, and he reached the end of his tether. The shop had vanished, having been replaced by a fire escape, that everybody seemed to believe had been there since the mall was opened. Chris could not believe it. Her jaw simply hung loose in unadulterated shock.
"Still, the earrings look good," Alex joked.
And then Chris felt it, a sort of buzzing in her brain. Like a cloud had fallen on her head, and for a few moments, she didn't feel able to think at all, her brain being lost in a swarm of numb sensations. And then it had finished. Looking down at herself hopefully, she realised that her body hadn't changed at all. She threw up her hands in rage, and Alex looked apologetic, it being all she could do.
"Are you alright?" a cute looking boy asked.
"Yes, thank you," Chris giggled.
Then she caught herself. A cute boy? Giggling? She wondered how stupid she had really been, having been suckered into wearing earrings that would change her mantally. Looking around, she could see a dozen or so guys that she found hot. Looking at Alex, she had no feelings for her whatsoever, the way a hetrosexual girl wouldn't. It certainly seemed like she had no choice about this any more.
