Chronivac Version 4.0

When the others found out

Deciding not to leave her hiding spot, reasoning that "It's worked so far, so why risk it," Felicity starts moving some of the bottles around, getting into a slightly more comfortable position, and finally backing away from the bowl of the sink that caused her so much torment these past few minutes.

Now leaning against the wall, Felicity heard as the door opened, several pairs of footsteps walking inside. The full group, minus herself. The door was closed, then the tomboy heard the click of the lock. Almost immediately after, it was interestingly Diana who spoke up, uncharacteristically - or at least, from what Felicity could tell - demanding as she asked, "Alright, what is it you wanted to tell us? And why does it have to be in the bathroom? And... why was Felicity not included?"

Jennifer's voice came next, sounding like she was holding back tears. "Okay, s-so... as I was just explaining to Lucy, there's... a l-lot I have to explain. But before I do... I'm sorry." The girl started with, before she got to explaining. "Ever since we encountered the Chronivac, I'd been having these weird... feelings, I guess. Feelings that I was someone I'm not. About being a boy, and... more specifically, Lucy's older brother." Felicity knew what was being explained, she'd already heard it, but she decided to listen in anyway, in case there was something she missed the first time. Jennifer continued. "And as I've come to find out... i-it's because all of it was... technically true."

"What do you mean by that?" Natalie asked, prompting Jennifer to continue.

"As I've found out... E-Everything I knew before today was a lie..." There was a brief pause as she composed herself to continue. "J-Just before the sleepover, I - As well as Felicity - d-didn't exist. We were..." Guilt was evident in her voice. "..The result of these two boys, Jeff and Alan, using the Chronivac to turn themselves into girls to sneak into the sleepover."

Felicity didn't have the visual, but from the tone, she could sort of assume Jennifer was avoiding eye contact right now. "I-I didn't remember anything, and I don't think Felicity does either, but.. I-I was originally Jeff, Lucy's older brother. And Felicity was Alan, th-the one who suggested we do this..." Jennifer's voice went a bit more somber, and Felicity half expected to hear sobbing as the girl continued. "Th-They... altered reality. M-Made Felicity and I your friends just so they could get in. And... I-I'm sorry..." Jennifer's voice trailed off, and it went quiet for a moment.

In Jennifer's silence, Lucy spoke up. "I've already punished these two boys, Alan and Jeff," she started explaining. "When I excused myself for the bathroom earlier, I was checking the Chronivac, to see why Jennifer and Felicity had profiles, and that's where I discovered it." A certain smugness entered her tone. "And don't worry, I punished them by making the transformation permanent. They won't go back to being creepy boys any time soon."

A silence fell over the room, before it was broken by Natalie, who, from what Felicity could gather, was talking to Jennifer. "You... are a girl, right?" She asked, seeming to already know, but wanting to make sure.

"I am now..." Jennifer answered. "Because of the Chronivac, everything I know is that of Jennifer Grace. A girl, 9 years old, and I just recently moved into town." She made a few unintelligible noises, her voice failing her before she finally muttered out, "I don't know what to do to prove this, short of exposing myself."

"That's okay!" Tanya said, a hint of a laugh in her tone. "I don't know about anyone else, but I believe you when you say you're a girl!"

A silence fell over the group, Felicity curious what's going on. But eventually, Natalie broke it. "So, it was this Alan, who is now Felicity, who suggested crashing our sleepover? For what reason?"

"Yeah." Both Jennifer and Lucy replied almost simultaneously, before Jennifer spoke alone. "I can't remember why, though. It's one of those things which seems either lost to me, or locked away with the part of me which used to be Jeff. I'm sure if I wanted to, I might be able to work out why, but... Otherwise, the only thing I can suggest is to go talk to Felicity."

"Felicity!" Tanya exclaimed, and after a brief quiet, she asked, "Are we going to do anything about her? Besides what Lucy did?"

Lucy spoke next. "I think she's been punished enough." Felicity wasn't sure if she considered that a punishment, since it only eased a fear, but she stayed quiet. "And if we want to punish Felicity further, that's a topic to discuss later."

Jennifer added, "Yeah, I don't think we should punish her. It... wouldn't be fair. Especially if you didn't punish me, too..."

Felicity, still in hiding, heard footsteps leaving the room, the door being unlocked and opened. She was now alone in here, the other girls gone, but she wasn't quite sure if she should head out yet. "Jennifer and Lucy stayed behind a bit, when the others went back... what if I ran into them?"
