Hiro and “Natsumi” don’t talk at all during dinner, when Hiro is finished with his meal, the boy gets to his feet, “Natsumi… I… I’m sorry,” he says, the “girl” looks up at the boy, noticing the uncomfortable and awkward expression on his face, “I… I really didn’t know that the… movie would be like that”. The “girl” doesn’t say a word, Hiro lets out a sigh, “I wouldn’t be upset if… if you want to leave,” he then says, “I… I’d understand. But should you… um… want to talk… you’ll find me in the pavilion,” with that the boy walks out of the dining room, rubbing the back of his neck.
Left alone in the dining room, “Natsumi” lets out a sigh, staring down at her empty plate, ‘it’s not his fault, he I believe him that he didn’t know,’ she thinks to herself, ‘he looked just as disturbed as I feel’. “Natsumi” looks at the door Hiro left through, ‘being a boy myself, I know how he feels,’ she thinks to herself, ‘he thinks that he has ruined the evening with that movie. I… I have to tell him that he hasn’t, that I really enjoyed it’. The girl gets to her feet and walks out of the dining room, finding a guard standing near the door, “ex-excuse me, sir,” the “girl” says, the guard looks at her, “could you please take me to Hiro? I… I need to talk to him… he said he’d be in the pavilion”.
The guard nods, “follow me,” he says, starting to head towards the garden. “Natsumi” follows the guard to the pavilion, the guard slides the door open, “young sir, your guest asks to talk to you,” he says.
Hiro is standing with his back turned to the door, looking out at the pond, “Natsumi… join me,” he says without turning around.
“Natsumi” steps into the pavilion, the door slides shut behind her as she walks up to Hiro, the boy turns around, his eyes red. Seeing this causes the “girl” to stop dead in her tracks, “Hiro… have you been… crying?”
Hiro lets out a sigh, “yeah,” he says.
“Why?”
“Because… because I have ruined your evening with me,” the boy says, “I didn’t mean to… make you feel… so disturbed”.
“Natsumi” walks up to Hiro, “Hiro, you haven’t ruined anything,” she says, “I really enjoyed the evening with you. The food was incredible, and the movie, though a little… heated… I… I enjoyed it”.
“You… you really mean that,” Hiro asks.
“Natsumi” nods, “I know you did your best,” she says, “you didn’t know that the movie had such a scene in it, so I have no reason to be mad at you”.
Hiro relaxes a little, the boy gives the “girl” a small smile, “thanks, Natsumi,” he says, “that… that makes me feel better”.
“Natsumi” smiles, the “girl” walking up and standing beside the boy, looking out across the pond, Hiro turns around and both just stare out at the water in silence for a while. The “girl” turns her head to look at the boy, seeing the boy’s handsome face, causes her to once again feel the fluttering feeling in her stomach and a warmth spread through her body.
‘Hiro… he is such a handsome boy, and such a great and sweet guy,’ the “girl” thinks to herself, ‘he really did his best to make me feel comfortable. The longer I am with him… the more I want him to… to be my boyfriend, and I can tell that he is in love with me. But… it’s not me he loves… it’s this body that he loves, he… he’d never love the real me. I could use the app to make him gay, but… but I don’t want to do that… I’d feel like that… that it wouldn’t be the real thing. And telling him the truth about me… that this is not who I truly am… it would absolutely devastate him… I don’t want that to happen. What shall I do?!’
Hiro looks over at “Natsumi” when he feels the “girl” staring at him, “what is it, Natsumi,” he asks, “I can tell that you have something on your mind”.
