"She doesn't?" Jeff said. "Well...if that's what you changed....I can't complain about it, can I?" He gave her a quick peck on the lips. "I'll go make up the living room for you just in case."
He left to do that. Meanwhile, Roxy had secured Jenny's bag and joined Jeff in the living room. She barked at him. "Oh, hey girl..what's up?" Jeff said.
Roxy looked at him. She wanted to spend time with him. But he seemed busy. She hopped onto the couch and gestured. Much to her surprise, he sat next to her.
Before long, he turned on the TV and they watched together.
Meanwhile, Jenny grew bored waiting for Jeff to return and came out to find him sitting on the couch, Roxy on the couch next to her. "Oh, hey Jenny," Jeff said.
Roxy looked at Jenny, and seemed to be smiling more widely than normal...feeling as if she had won. Her master thought Jenny had lost her bag, and he was spending time with her instead.
Jenny looked back, getting annoyed at the dog. She knew what was coming, but how dare Roxy look at her like that? Did she think she was Jeff's girlfriend already? She had made Roxy aware of any changes, but...
"You want to go for a walk or something?" Jeff offered.
"Actually, I think maybe I'll rest for a little while till my Mom gets here," Jenny said.
Jeff shrugged. "Okay...are you not feeling well or something?"
"No...just need a nap."
Jeff got up. "The room is all yours...come on Roxy..." he said, gesturing for her to join him.
Jenny yawned, and collapsed onto the couch and fell asleep.
It didn't turn out to be a short nap. When she awoke, it was dark outside.
