After her Grandpa Joey dropped Jamie off at school, Jamie looked around at the high school and saw the typical high school cliques talking with each other. She also overheard some of the school's sport's teams talk about the big homecoming game on Friday followed by the dance on Saturday. She had the thought of asking Antonio out, but she doubt that she even knew she was, after all he was on the basketball team and she was apparently part of the school's cheerleaders and there were plenty of cheerleaders at the school, why should she be any different? She still couldn't help think of Antonio as she walked through the school's halls, she was imagining herself with Antonio when she suddenly bumped into someone and fell onto the floor with her book bag and supplies spilling out all over the floor.
"Oh my god, I am so...sorry, I didn't see where I was going at all!" Jamie said quickly apologizing as she got on the floor to get her stuff.
The person she bumped into kneeled down and helped her pick up her supplies and handed them to her before she looked up to see the person.
"Thank you....ANTONIO?!" Jamie shouted on accident as she quickly cupped her mouth before dropping her supplies again and turning red with a lot of embarrassment on her face.
"Yeah, heh, that's me, Antonio. You're....Jamie, right? You're a cheerleader, right?" Antonio asked her as she moved her hair back while fumbling her words.
"Yep that's me....cheerleader, a member of the Jamie's. I mean my name's Jamie, I'm a cheerleader." Jamie said with a little embarrassment.
"Right. I've seen you with the others, you're really good with those moves you do." Antonio complimented as new memories suddenly came into Jamie's mind of all her cheerleader gymnastics.
"Oh, yeah. Thank you." Jamie said putting her supplies back into her bag as Antonio offered her his hand to stand up, which she took.
"Hey so, the end of this week is the homecoming dance and I....was....wondering if....maybe you wanted to go with me to the homecoming dance at the end of the week? That is....if no one else has asked you yet." Antonio asked rubbing his neck acting a little shy.
'Homecoming? At the end of the week? Are you mad woman? You'll only be a teenager for the week and you certainly can't promise him...' Jamie's mind thought before she spoke.
"Yes, I would love to go with you." Jamie answered with a little smile and blush.
"Wow, really? Great, so I'll see you at the dance on Saturday. Oh, yeah, and I'll also see you at the game on Friday. I'll be in the stands, so just watch for me." Antonio said as he walked away leaving Jamie clutching her bag.
'What was that young lady?' Jamie's mind thought to herself. 'You're a grown woman, remember?' Jamie's thoughts reminded her. But the more she thought about her and Antonio together, the quieter the adult voice in her head became.
At that moment a black teenage girl and a Japanese teenage girl came over to her looking shocked and amazed.
"Jamie, was that Antonio we were just seeing you talk to?" Jamie's friend, Chloe asked as Jamie gave a big grin and nodded.
"What did he say to you?" Mei now questioned.
"He....he asked me to the homecoming dance....and I said....YES!" Jamie said excitedly as she held hands with Chloe and her other friend, Mei. It was already a good start to her day.
