Amy noticed an out-of-the-way aisle that seemed full of ordinary stuff. It looked like a section of an office supply store, actually. Instead of the funky trinkets found in other aisles, this one looked incredibly normal, and that's what seemed so abnormal about it.
Amy looked over the shelves, thinking there had to be some reason why there was a section for things like copy paper, staples and t-squares. She ruffled through the items, looking for a hidden spell book or some sort of mysterious doodad that would be important enough to hide in a section nobody would think to look in. As she pushed some bottles of writing ink over to inspect the rear of a shelf, one of them fell off, hitting the floor and breaking open. Ink exploded everywhere, with many spurts splashing across Amy. She looked at her good clothes, completely covered in stripes of black ink. It had even gotten in her hair.
She tried to wipe it off, but even though it should have still been somewhat wet, she couldn't even smudge it. The stripes remained exactly where they were on her skin and clothing. She licked her finger and rubbed furiously on one stripe, but it did nothing. "Great. It's some kind of super-permanent ink," she grumbled as she picked up what remained of the bottle.
"Magic Zebra Ink."
Amy looked down at her body. The way it had splashed on her really did look like zebra stripes. "Funky," she said, tossing the glass back to the floor. "Maybe I can get someone who knows how to clean it off." She walked back down the aisle, looking at her skin. Aside from where the ink soaked in, it looked downright pale.
"Wait a minute...," she looked at her arm closer. It really WAS pale! Her skin was turning completely white, making the black stripes stand out more. Was she having an allergic reaction to some compound in the ink? She looked under her shirt to see if that skin was changing as well. To her shock, the ink had soaked right through her clothes and onto the skin underneath, which was also bleached white.
"What's going on here?" she shouted, hoping to get a store employee's attention. "Somebody? Hey!" Now her scalp began to itch, and her neck as well. She raked her hands through her hair, discovering that it was bristlier and starting to stick up. As she ran her hands down her neck, she felt hair growing there as well! From the feel of it, it was growing down her back too, and she ran down the aisles looking for a mirror.
When she finally found one, she gasped. Not only was her skin white with black stripes from head to toe, her hair was now the jet black mane of a zebra! Her fingernails had also changed to a dull black, though her hands didn't look any different other than the color changes.
While she stared in shock, she felt something shifting inside her pants. She pulled the waist down a bit to find a rope of skin emerging from above her butt. She pulled it out and saw that it was about two feet long, striped like her skin and ended in a large tuft of black hair. She had a tail!
"What's happening?" she cried. "Is there anybody in here? Help me!"
