Desperately Amy ran through the aisles when no help came to her, with each passing second feeling more and more bizarre. The shop was huge! There were so many aisles, Amy was turned around more than once only to find herself back where she started. All the time she was lost her body was starting to tingle and itch, and with dawning shock Amy realized all of her was now sprouting black and white fur exactly where the ink had splashed on her stripes.
She screamed and somewhere across the store heard Lina call out her name, but in her panicked state Amy wasn’t sure where it came from. As she clattered down the wooden floor noisily the poor girl’s feet began to ache, and then with a small tumble she fell right out of her shoes in mid-stride! Getting up and dusting herself off Amy found that her sprouting fur had thickened into a luxurious black and white coat all over as she had feared, and that her feet were turning into a horse’s hooves! Now wobbly as her toes shrank and melted together into one solid toenail, Amy uneasily limped forward, clattering against the floor even more loudly, wagging her tail behind her.
At last, after wandering around for a minute or so, the now completely furry and zebra-striped eighteen-year-old found an aisle she recognized and with relief she pushed herself onwards to the front of the store. Her hands were starting to ache now, and she noticed that her nose was much more narrow and longer. That couldn’t be a good sign.
