“One part of me… the animal-part… would like you to revert it,” the squirrel says after a while, “however… the other part of me… the human-part… would like to learn more. You have made me really curious, and I’d like to learn more… not just about what else the program is able to do, but also about you humans. All my life I lived in fear of humans, for me every human was evil and mean, especially towards us animals. However, you seem to be a nice kid, and I know you didn’t mean it in an evil or bad way when you gave me this intelligence”.
Henry smiles, “I’d love to teach you everything I know about humans,” he says, “this program actually belongs to my older brother, Jeff. He doesn’t like me touching his stuff, so… I thought about copying it onto my phone, and create an independent program”.
“Alright, whatever you think is best,” the squirrel says.
Henry takes out his phone and soon the 10-year-old has his own independent Chronivac-App.
Jeff can only lie there and listen helplessly to the conversation his brother has with the squirrel, ‘I hope he doesn’t do anything… stupid,’ Jeff thinks to himself.
“Let’s head into my room,” Henry says, “I don’t want Jeff to get mad at me”.
“Okay,” the squirrel simply says before jumping onto Henry’s shoulder, the two then exit the room.
Once in his room, Henry sits down on his bed, the squirrel stay perched on the boy’s should, “alright, let’s see,” the 10-year-old says, his voice filled with excitement as he opens the tab which opens the transformation options list and starts to scroll through it.
“Wow, those are a lot of options,” the squirrel says, “it ranges from animal to objects, and even food”.
“Yeah, so crazy,” Henry says, he then gets an idea, “hey… just an idea: what would you think of becoming a human for a while? It would make it easier for you to learn our ways”.
“For how long,” the squirrel asks.
“It depends,” Henry says, “I can make it permanent, or set a duration from minutes to days, to months, and to years”.
“Hm…,” the squirrel says, “intriguing, but where should I go? I have no place to live while being a human”.
“Well that depends how old you are,” Henry says.
“I’m six,” the squirrel says.
“Let’s see what that is in human years,” Henry says, opening the browser on his phone, “according to this, you’d be about 50 in human years”.
“Holy hell,” the squirrel says.
Henry thinks for a while, “I think it wouldn’t be good for you to live by yourself,” he says, “I mean… you know nothing about us humans, how to act and stuff”.
“Yeah… so… what should I do?”
Henry smiles, “well… I could simply make you be a kid, like me… either a little younger or a little older than me. I could use the reality alteration to make it so everyone, except you and me, would think you’d be my adopted younger or older brother”.
“Yeah, that would be the best,” the squirrel says.
“I’m going to turn 11 this year, so I’ll be starting going to a junior high school,” Henry then says, “I could set it so we both would visit the same school”.
“That’ll be great, at least I’d have someone I already know and trust close by”.
“Ye… wait… y-you trust me?”
The squirrel looks at Henry, smiling as it nods its head, “yeah… you’re a good kid,” he says, “and I am starting to like you”.
Henry smiles, “thanks,” he says, “I almost forgot… you’d need a name”.
“True, but which?”
“Let’s see what the internet says, and you just choose the one you like the most!”
“Alright,” the squirrel says.
The next hour, the two look through names, until the squirrel finally finds a name it likes the most.
