It begins to shimmer. A dull blue iridescence paints the room as the orb almost seems to pulse to some strange heartbeat. Staring into it, you feel entranced by the display, and some part of you wants to touch it again. So you reach out, tentatively stretching your left hand towards the floating orb as it begins to glow brighter, seemingly in response. Until the sheer brightness forces you to squint into where you can only swear the orb was, its form is utterly swallowed under its light. Then your hand touches something solid, and the light disappears to reveal your hand going into the orb.
You blink, noticing at that moment the utter lack of anything else, where once was the rest of your room, the door, windows, tables, and everything. An utter void stares back, your feet standing on seemingly nothing. The only other object visible outside of your physical body is the Orb.
The orb in which your hand had seemingly been swallowed. Confusion strikes you as you stare at this strange sight, gazing upon where your wrist enters the orb. You try experimentally to pull your hand back, to no avail. The orb stood fixed in the air; no matter how much you pulled and struggled, your wrist refused to move.
Until you felt the breeze of air rushing past, the sensation of suction as you looked back at the orb. Seeing it begin to glow, seemingly pulsating, as very slowly it began to consume more of your arm at an ever-increasing pace. Bewilderment turns to panic as you struggle futilely against the pull of the orb even as it seems to swallow more and more and more until it seems as if the world itself is being sucked into a hole the size of a pinprick.
There is no pain, only confusion, disconnected sensation, and a morass of colors, both darkest of blacks and blinding whites. A kaleidoscope of every colour joined by immaterial twists and turns, eviscerating any form for sense in anything at all. Until it finally begins to slow and make sense, sensation is first introducing foreign awareness, foreign emotion, and foreign sensation as it all begins to resolve.
You aren't home anymore, or are you? Something feels different...
But what?
