Jen got ready like normal, nothing out of the ordinary. As she made her way downstairs, her mother was in the kitchen browsing the morning paper.
"Did you sleep well, sweetie?"
"Y-yeah!" Jen said, rubbing the back of her neck.
Lie #1
She'd laid awake most of the night, tossing and turning about an upcoming exam. Jen felt a flash of heat in her mouth. Suddenly, her tongue was much longer. And hairy.
"Good! I left you a yogurt in the fridge. Love you but I gotta go!" Her mom quickly folded the paper, kissed her daughter on the forehead, and left for her important job downtown. Jen, however, could only muffle a scream.
Her tongue was replaced by her pet dog's tail. It hung out of her mouth almost a foot, and the first few inches were slick with saliva. She grabbed it with one hand, running her fingers through its fur. She gagged as the hair from her new fluffy tongue tickled the back of her throat. In fact, shed hairs filled her mouth as she twitched her new appendage.
Sitting down, she carefully spooned yogurt into her mouth. She couldn't really chew it without biting her 'tongue,' and she felt the yogurt stick to its fur. She sealed her lips around her tongue as best she could, trying to suck it out of the fur. It tasted gross. Twitching it to each side to rub her tail against her teeth, it flung back and forth in front of her, tickling her chin. The appendage danced in her face, taunting her.
Each step to her car caused it to sway back and forth in front of her. When one of her favorite songs came on the radio, she found it wagging instinctively, distracting her further. Eventually she got to school, unaware of why her tongue was now a tail. She felt strangely calm about it, but a voice in the back of her mind was screaming that something was wrong, very wrong...
