Ty was glad to see June so happy again. "Now we need to test Mark's ability to unmerge you," he said.
June said, "I'm enjoying this so much..." Ty was instantly wary. Was June overwhelmed already? "But yes, I know we have to test that." Ty was relieved.
"How do I do it?" Mark asked.
"Just concentrate on June and the washing machine being separate," Ty said.
Mark furrowed his brow, and suddenly the washing machine reappeared. June frowned a bit, and said, "Even though I expected that, it felt quite... abrupt. Not very pleasant."
"Well, it's only an emergency measure," Ty said. "Usually Mark will ask you to unmerge yourself, and you'll do it on your own. That probably won't be as unpleasant. In fact, if you don't mind, let's try that, too. June, would you please merge yourself with the washer again?"
"Gladly," said June, and the washing machine vanished again. "Oooh, that feels so good!"
Mark waited a few seconds, then requested, "June, please unmerge yourself."
June pouted. "Oh, if you insist," she said. Suddenly the washer appeared again. "Ty, you're right. That's less unpleasant. Still a bit of a letdown, though." She didn't look happy, but at least she wasn't frowning.
"June, I won't ask you to do that unless there's a problem," Mark said. "And if you're right, that you get better at handling your merged form with experience, then maybe we won't need that at all. I know you want to go back to your merged form. Go ahead."
The washer disappeared again, and June looked much happier.
