Jennifer knew better than to actually believe this "town curse". She has heard about it so many times, it just became boring. Problem is, there is also something in her mind that tells to run away, to ignore it, to not listen. Her ego taking the better of her fear, she responded smugly:
"Transform, so you don't force me to go to your stupid chess club or something."
He responded, a tad bit of anger seeping through his words: "Hey! The people of the chess club are nice! It's not because you're a bitch that you can just insult everyone like lowly lifes!"
A grin crossed her face, she was the richest, most popular, and probably prettiest girl in school. Maybe even in the whole town! Whatever that twig says, she can do all she wants when she wants. "Nice or not, they're all lame as hell! It's not for nothing that we pantsed you, it's because all that joins that type of clubs are loners! Rejects!"
He stammered at the other side of the receiver, his voice quivering with something akin to uncertainty. "W-Whatever! You're going to pay for e-everything! You humiliated me, in front of everyone in school, laughing at me and my friends!"
Even through her own assurance, Jennifer felt a pang of guilt in her hearth. It happens a lot that after bullying some student, she feels bad from her action. It's not like she couldn't do it though! She has a reputation to uphold! And her own squad often lower others, so it's hard to not stay on their side...
The genuine fear she is saw when she humiliated him comes back to her mind, and with a softer, almost reassuring voice, she speak up. "Look... I'm kind of sorry for what I did back there... I shouldn't have done this to you..." Fear then quivers in her mind as she follows with: "C-could you... not use the curse? I-If you think it's real that is..."
Kyle, at the other end of the line, was utterly confused by the sudden change in behavior. Why was she... nice all of a sudden? Is this a facade so he spares her from the curse? Or does she... genuinely mean it? : "You... You're so weird Jen! One second you're the worst one out there, the next you seem to care about anyone! I really feels like you're two different person!"
He stops, as if pondering something, before continuing, with a more upbeat attitude: "That's it! I know what'll be you're transform! Listen well, as this is going to be important for the rest of your life!" A scribble of paper can be heard by the now half-nervous half-annoyed Jennifer. After a bit, he stops, and seems to walk back to his phone. "Ok! For your transformation, after the next time you sleep, you'll wake up as two Jennifers! One is going to represent your good side, and the other your bad side, both physically and mentally! The both of you will have the same memories of your old life, but will diverge from your separation. With a little luck, there's actually good in you Jennifer! Hum... just to be sure nothing bad happens, one of you will be considered as the old Jennifer by everybody, and the other one will be considered a twin sister, even if you're different. This includes your reputation at school and your family. You'll probably have different names, and you'll not have to worry about any paperwork, as everything will just work out as if it already was that way. Also, just to be sure, none of you two will be able to use the curse, and also, you won't remember that call until tomorrow when you wake up as two. Good last day as the only Jennifer Smith!"
And like that, he hung up, leaving Jen pondering of why she's holding her phone to her ear..
