Dan was enveloped in blackness. She could see nothing, hear nothing, feel nothing, taste nothing, and smell nothing.
But suddenly, in front of her, was an entire world, coming towards her. Blue and beautiful, it looked much like Earth, though the layout was completely different. Past the distant horizon-edge of the planet, Dan could see two bright moons, and a distant but brilliant sun. She was briefly worried about burning up in the atmosphere, but she didn't seem to be accelerating. Instead, she seemed to be falling towards it at the same gentle pace. Besides, she thought, Kat would never allow me to die, especially not before she's through tormenting me. Mom and Dad would ask too many questions.
As Dan fell towards the planet, Kat's voice came ringing through the void. "Welcome to your new home, Danielle," it said. "I think you'll be here for at least two and a half minutes, or five years in your time. But like I said, that depends on how interesting I find your adventures. Give me a good show, and I'll consider bringing you back early. If you're boring though, I might leave you for about half an hour, or fifty years in your new life. It doesn't matter to me, as I'll be returning you to sixteen-year-old male human Dan when you get back. Oh, and if you're counting on the fact that females in our family become witches at eighteen to save you, don't. Remember, their are no foxes in our family tree. You're simply not part of the family line right now. Granted, there is magic in the world I've sent you to, but you'd have to search long and hard for mana fields of the caliber required to achieve interdimensional teleportation, and if you were to get close, I'd thwart you anyway. I'm not asking for too much anyway, just a few years of entertaining adventures. So...good luck, sis!"
With that, Kat's voice burst into the fit of evil cackling Dan(ielle) had felt was coming earlier. When it had subsided, there was nothing for Danielle to do but watch the ground approach her...
