"Hey, Lina!" Amy shouted "Where are you?" She had already searched a dozen aisles and still couldn't find her.
"I'm over here!" came Lina's distant reply. Amy ran a few aisles until she found where it had come from. Lina was standing in front of a mirror wearing a fluffy pink sweater. "They've got some interesting stuff here," she said. "I think I'm going to get this sweater."
"As long as you don't sit in any strange chairs," Amy replied. Now she began to eye a particularly interesting pair of shiny black pants.
"What does that mean?" Lina asked. Amy told her about the chair and showed her the tattoo it had given her. "Looks pretty cool if you ask me."
"Yeah," Amy said. "But my mom would probably kick me out of the house if she saw this thing. Remember how she stopped us from getting our ears pierced last year?"
"She is kind of strict," Lina thought. "But it's your body."
"Well I didn't really want it either," Amy admitted. "All the machine said was there would be an 'augmentation.' I had no idea it would do this."
"Um..." Lina said. Amy turned back around and saw her gaping open-mouthed at her butt. At Amy's questioning look, Lina lifted a shaky finger and said "Did it mean...that kind of augmentation?"
Amy now felt something weird happening in her pants. She looked behind her and screamed at the little gray worm creeping up and out of the waistline. The tattoo's original black ink was now glowing bright red. "What the hell is that?!" she screamed, frantically unbuttoning her pants and pulling them down.
A furry rope was snaking its way out of the bottom of her spine. As Amy watched, it extended down to her knees with a pulling sensation she had never felt before. Little white hairs covered it with a few small black spots. As it finished growing, fluffy black hair puffed out of its end.
"It's a tail!" Lina stammered. "A...a cow's tail!"
"Yeah..." Amy said emotionlessly. She took the thin tail in her hands, feeling its soft tuft of fur and let it drop. It swished lazily, using muscles Amy had never noticed before. She felt it swipe against the back of her legs. "Wow...this is...this is great!"
"'Great?'" Lina repeated, sounding skeptical. "That tattoo you got is probably some magic circle, you know, the kind that casts spells! Who would want a cow's tail?"
Amy was hurt. "I would!" she spat. "I've always wanted a cow since I was little. Now...I get to be one! Or at least, part of one. This tail feels strange, but still really nice."
"And you were worried about your mom freaking out about a tattoo," Lina said, exasperated. "She is gonna be traumatized by a tail."
Amy admitted that Lina had a point. Hiding this thing was going to be a lot more challenging than simple body art. She had to think of something...
