"Oh my god!" Katie nearly tackled Shanna as she jumped away from the sudden scream and zip of air that passed over her hair.
Shanna, Paul, and Jack all burst out laughing as Katie held Shanna's arm while looking above her in bewilderment. "Relax, you schitz, it ain't flying brooms." Jack pointed up and to their left. "You see that little blue light at the top of that tree?"
"Yeah, what is that?" Katie cocked her head as she gazed upward.
"It's the 'darkline'." The four friends passed the first fire pit marking the perimeter of the festival area. Jack put his hand on Katie's shoulder. "Now, turn around, look up, and squint."
Katie focused her eyes just in time to see the outline of a hanging body zipping down an almost invisible line. "They have a zipline here?!" Her voiced raised as the cover band started into their next song.
"Oh yeah, they have the works! Come on, let's keep moving!" The group walked behind the gathered audience as Jack lead a straight march to the semicircle where three shacks acted as food and alcohol concession stands. He paused and waited for Katie to catch up to him. "You'll see how much fun this place is. Sure, they get you good on the 'Trail', but they have a hayride, a haunted barn, a 'Monsticale Course', and plenty to drink. Speaking of which..."
Katie focused on Jack as he trailed off, "What? Speaking of what?"
"Speaking of how drinking also acts as a good place to start when looking for fine chicas." Jack nudged his chin over to a group standing by the far right shack. "I haven't seen them here before. I wonder if they're new actors on the trail"
Katie followed Jack's eyes over to the concession area. A group of four girls stood together with heavy beer steins vaguely looking over to the concert area. Katie figured they were either part of the show, or had really nice matching costumes.
Each girl wore a velvet, hooded royal blue heavy cloak secured at the neck by a metal clasp. A light grey fur with some black layers of fur trimmed the full edge of each garment. She couldn't see clearly what the women wore under the cloak, but they each had matching polished black leather boots with laces up the sides. Jack, of course, had his gaze on the only one of the ladies with her hood down, a very attractive woman in her mid-twenties with jet black hair cut shoulder length to frame her sharply featured face perfectly.
"Why did you guys stop?" Shanna looked in curiousity to both Katie and Jack.
"Oh, no reason," Jack responded. He turned back toward the group "What can I get everyone to drink?"
Shanna brushed a lock of hair from her eyes, "I thought we were all heading over together."
"Well, sure, but that was before I didn't have any reason to worry about ya'll messin' up my game." Jack nudged the back of his head to the group of cloaked women.
Shanna looked past Jack's arm and immediately caught the direct gaze of the dark haired girl. The connection held in the air as Shanna could not will herself to look away from the intensity in the mystery woman's eyes. Finally, she shook her head slightly and returned her attention to Jack. "Ok, but I don't know if they are either so pretty to be out of your league, or, with those costumes, wierd enough to be right up your alley. Either way, I don't see this being a good thing."
Paul chimed in after having taken his look. "Wow. I agree with Shanna, but she's to hot for me not to see what happens when you try. I'll be your wingman, since you can't carry everyone's drinks away from the bar. You ladies can keep each other company for a minute, I hope?"
Shanna smiled with one corner of her mouth as she sidled up next to Katie, "Of course, we'll watch the game from the bleachers."
Jack looked over to Paul as they turned away from the girls. "Alright, man, but you had better not, like, mess this up for me."
Shanna nudged Katie and replied under her breath, "If we see the classic Jack moves, Paul will be the least of his worries."
