Wolf Coven - Rescue / Rangers

added by Forefox 16 years ago A BM

A large ancient stone building stood in the middle of her sight. Her gaze moved up as she saw a large cross on its steeple. “A cathedral,” Lisa thought. She heard a slight rustle behind her. Lisa gave a low growl warning her sisters of the possible impending danger ahead. Lisa circles around searching for any additional clues. Toward the back of the cathedral, she saw a truck and the car Vix had described earlier that was stolen. Their scents were strong. Dan must be inside along with Sharon. However, she also picked up a two other different smells that she could hardly identify. One was pungent and burned Lisa’s nostrils while the other was similar to smelling salts. Ammonia, she figured. Lisa snarled, thinking of the tortures that Sharon have endured with Dan. She hasted back toward the opposite direction wanting to meet up with Wendy and Debra before moving in.

Wendy felt she had been sprinting for what seemed like miles without tiring. There was a slight muffling noise up ahead. A fiery colored wolf materialized in view as both Debra and Wendy slowed their pace. The wolf reverted into a hybrid form while they came to a halt.

“Dan’s in an old church ahead,” it gruff, sounding like Lisa. “Wendy, you know what to do.”

Wendy nodded and moved silently, passing Lisa who gave a slight motion to Debra. They both then parted into the bushes diverging away from Wendy.

It took Wendy less than half a minute to reach the church Lisa spoke of. She took a moment to marvel at the relic building. It was amazing how something so large could remain hidden for so long in the woods. Her attention moved toward that of the two vehicles nearby. The main doors to the cathedral were on the opposite side to where Dan had parked them. “He must have parked there to hide them from view of the road in front of the entrance,” Wendy figured. She quietly moved toward the truck and searched inside. The door was already unlocked. Without a sound, Wendy eased the door ajar and released the emergency break that was keeping the truck from diving into the trees ahead. The truck started to inch forward. Wendy dashed back into the wilderness, not wanting to be around when Dan finds out what happened.

There was a loud audible crash. The truck had plunged head on into the trunk of an oak tree. Several seconds pass by until the front twin doors of the cathedral opened. Dan stalked out, a pistol in hand, to investigate the disturbance. As soon as he rounded the corner, Lisa bounded toward the door and placed a paw to keep the door from shutting. Her coven sisters, all in their hybrid forms, filed inside. They all immediately dispersed among the rows of wood seats that lined the floor, sniffing the area to find Sharon.

Brenda was the first to see Sharon, unconscious, tied to a cross high up on the wall behind the speech platform. She lets off a low growl and pointed. They all quickly assembled beneath her, wondering how they would be able to get her down. Lisa looked around and spied a ladder nearby that Dan must have used in getting Sharon up. She retrieved the ladder and with the help of her sisters, unfolded it. Once it was propped it up, Brenda painstakingly climbed the ladder. Her movement up was awkward in her hybrid form, but finally she sliced through the ropes with her sharp claws that bounded Sharon’s legs and arms to the symbol. Sharon fell down into the arms of Solange, who cradled her as everyone gathered around. She was still alive and breathing much to their relief. Lisa signaled that they must leave.

However, just at that moment the main door opened. Dan has returned.

Not to far away,

Vix and the Ranger team stopped and got out of their vehicles. They were out of eyesight of Dan’s position that was further down the road. The Rangers emerged from the back door of the van and started to make way into the surrounding woods in small groups. They were heavily armed with dual purpose night-vision and infrared goggles, the new revolutionary SCAR-H or SCAR-L variant rifles, fragmentation grenades containing metallic silver shrapnel, and other supplies that augmented their purpose in the mission.

Vix needed nothing of the sort. Although she wasn’t equipped with armor like the rest of the squads, she still came prepared using the equipment she knew best. She armed herself with her trusty crossbow, a small tracking device, and a radio to convey her orders to the Ranger team. The Ranger team will be doing most of the work, Vix figured. She was just there to witness it all happen. Closing the trunk of her Mustang, she loads in several silver nitrate darts.

BOOM!

Vix immediately ducked behind her Mustang and searched to see if she was being fired upon. There was chatter from the Ranger team over Vix’s radio.

“Did you hear that?”

“Status!”

“Where is that firing coming from?”

“It’s from a building up ahead.”

Vix spoke clearly over the radio, “Teams disengage safety and wait for further instructions. Remember the rules of engagement!”

“Understood.”

“Roger that.”

“Ten-four.”

Vix placed her radio back on her belt. She looks down at a dart she inadvertently dropped next to her soft-soled shoes she was wearing. “No high heels for today,” She smirked to herself as she replaces it back into the crossbow. She had dressed for the occasion.

Several more shots were heard and Vix dashed towards the conflict.
