“Virgin drinks? But look around!
Everything’s free! That means free beer
too!” said Jon, obviously annoyed.
“Well, yeah, but if we want to enjoy all the rides and
everything else, don’t you think it’d be a good
idea for us not to get hammered right off the bat?” said
Alexis, her cow balloon bobbing from her wrist as she walked.
“But it’s free beer, and they’re not even
carding!” cried Jon, looking around at all the teenagers
guzzling down pints.
“Look, I want to have fun for a while before we go
drinking. All these places are open 24-7 right?”
asked Alexis, looking around.
“Yeah, well, I guess.” sulked Jon. It was
really hard for him to get his way sometimes with Alexis.
“So, let’s see what we can get that’s
non-alcoholic.” he sighed.
The pair walked arm in arm down the midway, past the crowds who were
yelling and having a fun time, past a group of giggling and laughing
schoolgirls who’d just come out of the funhouse.
Jon winced as one of the girls laughed—her laugh was harsh
and very grating. Pushing past the group, he led his
girlfriend towards a food court area. There were plenty of
food and drink places arranged around a central courtyard.
“Well, where do you want to go? I’m
buying.” Jon said with a grin.
Alexis thought about what she wanted. Absently, she scratched
at her stomach as she pondered about where to go. Her skin
was itchy and a bit swollen, but scratching it felt pretty good.
“Ok…we’ll go to…”
