Mary was tired of waiting. It had been over an hour since she had taken the shrink vial, and she was still too tall to stand up in her own house. She had been watching television for a little while, but now she was fed up. She opened the shrink vial once more and took another few sips. "Hope this does the trick," she said as she replaced it in the box. She turned her attention back to the television. At least one of her favorite movies was playing.
It was only five minutes later that she decided to try standing up again. To her delight, it worked. Her head was dangerously close to the ceiling, but at least she was upright. She stood next to the markings on her wall and found herself at seven and a half feet. Excited, she headed into her bedroom to pick out some clothes. Although it was nice for a while, she was tired of being naked as well as tall.
She tried putting on her underwear. It was just a little tight, but it worked. Then she put on a long-sleeved blouse and a pair of pants. When she returned to the living room and remeasured herself, she was down to 6' 9". "Excellent," she smiled. Now that she was at a more convenient height, she went to her computer to check her e-mail. As expected, she had quite a lot to sift through since she hadn't checked it in almost two whole days. She read some memos from her office and filtered through a dozen or so spam letters, then she slipped into the old habit of following one web link after another. She went about this for quite a bit, all the while shrinking smaller and smaller. Within no time, she reached her original height and her clothes finally felt perfect on her. Mary was much more engrossed in her on-line activities, however, and was currently tracking the next day's weather when she realized that her feet could no longer touch the carpet.
She pulled her eyes away from the screen and looked down to see that the sleeves of her shirt were almost completely covering her hands on the keyboard. Her pants were baggy, and she couldn't even see her feet underneath them. The edge of the desk was slowly getting higher and higher, and her arms now had to raise up just to reach the keys. Mary took them away from the computer, allowing her sleeves to completely flop down over her hands. She sat at the edge of her large chair, examining her situation with a quirky curiosity. She wasn't scared so much as intrigued. She liked the feeling of having such baggy clothes. She pushed her pants off and dangled her legs over the edge of the chair. The floor was far below them now. She looked around her at the enormous room. She couldn't even see the keyboard on her desk anymore, and stood up. Her shirt was so big it went down to her ankles. In just another minute, the collar was so wide it slipped off of her completely. Meanwhile, Mary simply stood there, concentrating on the feeling of slowly shrinking out of her clothes.
Now that she was naked once more, she couldn't feel the shrinking any longer. Instead she watched as the desk slowly ascended. What an incredible sight, to watch the entire room expanding around her. It made her feel so tiny and insignificant...but at the same time it excited her in ways she never realized.
Before it was too late, she climbed up onto the desk. She guessed she was only at one foot by now. If she got any smaller she'd never have been able to get off that chair. She pondered her options; She needed the vials to grow bigger again, but they were in a table in the other room. She could still use her computer to contact somebody for help, but would anyone come? Her shrinking wasn't stopping, and she was running out of time.
