Timmy prayed her parents weren't awake yet, that she had some time to think a way out of confrontation. However, her prayers went unanswered. They were watching the morning news.
Timmy's parents were disrupted from their breaking story of the recent spree of robberies brought to a close by Jessica and a girl of familiar appearance, clad in a tanktop and jeans also somewhat familiar.
"Jessica," her father started. "Who is this? You're supposed to tell us when someone is sleeping over for the night."
"Mom. dad," Jessica began. "Does this girl look familiar to you?"
They leaned in for a closer look at the girl, who shrunk away from their gaze. Indeed, it almost looked like Jessica, save for some small differences, almost invisible unless compared. How bizarre to occur in isolation. It's almost as if they were twins at birth.
"Um... Hi, mom and dad," Timmy forced out.
This line shook the parents, almost out of their seats. Did she just say she was their child?
"Who are you?" Timmy's dad asked.
"It's me, Timmy."
The whole room went silent. The reporter was rambling on about an uprising company's struggle with their competition.
"Timmy? It can't be. How can it be? Timmy's a..." her mother's voice trailed off.
"A girl now, yes." Timmy had a bit of disappointment to her voice. She knew they couldn't take it.
After another round of silence, the father spoke up. "Well, if all this is true, then we simply go on as normal. You'll just have to bear it."
"Yes, go on as normal." Timmy's mother seemed to find her resolve. "It's not like this changes much, and we can still go on as if nothing happened. Secretly, we wanted another girl anyways, so it's almost as if our wishes have been granted."
"Hey!" Timmy shouted. "Are you saying you never wanted me?!"
"No!" Timmy's mom was quick to correct herself.
"In any case, we're glad you brought this to our attention instead of just hiding it."
"Well, that's just it, dad," Jessica spoke up. "Now we need to get things for Timmy. Clothes, makeup, feminine care, that kind of stuff."
"Clothes? Can't he just use yours for now? I mean, he is your twin, surely all of your clothes fit him."
Jessica looked away dejectedly in response to this. Timmy only smiled on, as if some big secret were between them. "Well, not everything fits," Timmy responded slyly.
"I see," Dad caught the innuendo. "Very well then, I'll take you down to the mall and give you some money. Your sister can help you out from there, I assume." Jessica already looked to be regretting her commitment to the obligation she made earlier.
And with that, they headed for the local mall to find something fitting for young Timmy, now female.
"Say, shouldn't we find you another name since you're no longer a boy?" Jessica asked along the ride.
Timmy shook her head. "No. I wouldn't answer to anything else. I'm too used to my name."
"Aw, come on. At least choose a name to use for now."
"Very well... How about Tammy?"
"No, too obvious. Something else."
"Okay... I got it. How about Kimberly? Somehow, you can get Timmy out of that."
"I guess," Jessica seemed apathetic of the connection. "At least it's a girl's name. I'll probably end up calling you Kim from now on though, so expect it."
"Fair enough, and whenever you do, I'll just call you by that secret name that I vowed never to call you again."
"You wouldn't dare."
"Try me," Timmy said with vigor.
Sure enough, Jessica kept shut, as the mall came into view.
