Romona was with Delosey Bank of America. She has worked there for six years and today is here last day, even if she doesn't know it yet.
Ramona was told to travel to a town of Hills, in the middle west U.S.A. Once at the town she was to investagate some poor lemding practice done by the manager.
On arrival she was met by the local police. She was advised that the manager had vanished. Nobody had seen him since he went to a farm auction.
Aided by the police Ramona started at the farm to look for the missing man, and answer some questions already in her mind. Ramona was good at her work and as the police officer showed her around she made notes.
"Here Miss, is where George Hayes was last seen. The mud here shows him wandering all over and then out into the wheat field."
Ramona and her police escort walked a long mile into the wheat field. As she approached a pile of stones the wind changed. A odor of death was in the air. Walking around the pile a decomposed animal eaten body lay cooking under the western sun.
"Well officer I think we found him, sorta!" Kneeling down Ramona looked close at the body for any signs to what happened. Clutched in a hand was a yellow gold ring with an inscription.
Ramona picked up the ring and put it into a plastic bag. Marking the spot with a red-orange X on the rock pile they headed back to the farm house.
"Who lives here now, asked Ramona."
"Ahh Mrs. Wilkinson, she owns the place and her near neighbor runs his cattle on the place. It pay's the bills, I'm sure, said the officer."
Just then mrs. Wilkinson came out of the house and called to the officer. "Hey John, can I talk to you a minute!"
"Yes, Mrs. Wilkinson what can I do for you today, said the very kind officer."
"Would you please tell Bob Peterson to come and get that damn bull of his. The damn critter stands over there next to the fence and bellows day and night."
"Oh this is Miss Ramona Delray she is from the bank in Hills! She and I found the bank manager's body a mile out in the wheat field, dumb fool died of thirst, said the policeman."
Ramona walked over near the barn and there stood a large Hereford bull. A soft Moooo as the big animal strolled over to lick her hand. "My friendly isn't he, said Ramona!"
"Ya that damn animal has been moooing and driving me nuts. Heck ever since that day of the auction he's been there at the fence, said Mrs. Wilkinson."
