"Okay, number 1, we'll start with your -uh, innoculation," Venture said jabbing a startled Jim in his left butt cheek.
"It's Jim--yeow!"
Pulling out a pocket recorder, Venture began dictating, "Subject One, injected at 9:37 am on- whatever today's date is - damn watch, the date thingy's broken. Anyway subject is currently, a young adult male standing approximately 6 feet and weighing about 190 lbs."
"Currently? But I only weigh 175, and I'm..."
"Shush, boy, I'm dictating. Besides I've already written my research paper, I'm just using you for photo documentation. Now let's get you ready for your stress test." He walked over and picked up a hamster cage with a wheel in it. There were tiny electrodes dangling from the side of the cage.
"Stress test? That's a hamster cage?"
"Yes, well, in a few seconds you'll be too small for the regular treadmill, and while I probably should get a baseline on the treadmill before you shrink, I don't want to risk you getting squashed in the apparatus like my last subject one," Venture said.
"Wha-a-a-t?" exclaimed Jim looking up at Venture, and realizes that he was in fact rapidly diminishing in size even as they spoke.
Panicky, hopping around, Jim shouted, "Change me back! Change me back! You're going to turn me back when you're done with your study, right?"
"Change you back?" said the doctor in a voice that suggested the idea had never occured to him. He paused. "Oh, yes, you do what you're told, and help good ol' Doc Venture with his little experiment, and of course I'll change you back," he said in a sacchriney voice that most would never believe, but then again Jim desperately wanted to believe.
The doctor set the cage on the floor, and Jim climbed in and even attached the electrodes to his own chest before taking his place in the wheel. Dr. Venture picked up the cage, and Jim clutched on to the metal spokes on the wheel to steady himself as the wheel rocked back and forth. Placing the cage on the counter, Venture connected the wires to the EKG monitor, and pulled out a stop watch. He raised his finger in the air, and lowered it pointing at Jim.
"GO! NOW!" giant Venture's voice boomed.
Jim started running and the wheel started squeeking. He wondered whether Justin and John were running in similar hamster wheels or if some other, possibly worse fate had befallen them.
