The toon attendant patiently waited while John and Carrie chose their toon attire. Finally,
John settled on a bright yellow jumpsuit with purple stripes down the side, while Carrie
picked out a red hooded cape.
"Let's get you two into the transmografication booths!" chirped the attendant with an ear-
to-ear smile, as Carrie and John were dragged by their wrists out of the costume room and
to the line of glass and metal booths that lined the main chamber. John and Carrie
stepped into their individual booths and John watched with interest as the attendant
fiddled with the complex-looking electronic panel next to each. He also felt a certain
sense of claustraphobia as the glass door on his tiny room closed with a hiss, leaving him
standing in a space slightly smaller than the average telephone booth.
Suddenly, a soothing voice filled the small booth from some hidden speaker. "Welcome to
the Toonifcation Booth XB-3. This booth will attempt to match your personality, physical
attributes, and chosen attire with the appropriate cartoon features. Please do not be
alarmed if you experience sudden growth, shrinkage, species alteration, or other various
physical changes as they are part of the process to achieving your desired toonification."
"Wait a minute! Don't I get to choose myself" questioned John.
"I'm sorry sir. The current limitations of the XB-3 do not allow for self-selection" replied
the slightly robotic voice, not skipping a beat. Without warning, the ambient light in the
chamber turned to a deep red, and John felt warm jets of air shoot up from the floor.
"Commencing subject evaluation" chimed the voice, as John observed
